President Donald Trump wants to reverse a trend of fewer children participating in sports and make youth sports more accessible to economically disadvantaged students.

The White House is promoting the goals of the President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition on Wednesday and will hold a field day with the president on the South Lawn. Trump is expected to join athletes at stations that will include flag football, baseball, volleyball, golf, soccer and track and field.

Trump issued an executive order in February refocusing the council on youth sports as opposed to President Barack Obama's emphasis on fitness and healthy eating. Trump, who played high school sports and is a competitive golfer, has sought to work with groups in the public and private sectors to address declining participation in youth sports....

Ha AH!

“Let’s Move”.
Like MO before, should we expect to see Melania Trump on the lawn performing her ‘duty” as well. /s

WOW - they should be charging to view this event :-)
Males, more Melania, drool on. Of course this is only ‘joshin’ and his idea has merit. Our POTUS DJT, Making us PROUD again.

No doubt this will be cited as evidence of Trump’s fascist tendencies.

“See, the glorification of sport, of the body, just like in Plato’s Republic, Mussolini’s Italy, and Nazi Germany!”

My generation (my sister and I) used to get on our bikes, pedal to the local park and play and get in trouble, right after school. Both of us were pretty thin back then.

If I let my kids do that now I would get arrested and/or have the kids taken away from us.

I was almost arrested once by leaving my kid on a playground and walking across the street to go to a book store to buy a book so I could return to the playground and pass the time as he played. Three cops (two women and a man) ended up following me home in their patrol cars, inspecting my house, making sure my other kid was not ‘abandoned’ (he was with his mom) and that the living conditions were ok. After suffering a severe tongue lashing from the man cop, he convinced the other two female cops to let me go ‘this time’ with a warming (those two female cops really wanted me in jail).

I think this is the main reason for the kid obesity epidemic. Parents are not allowed to let the kids play in the park by themselves and are too busy to ‘pass the time’ at the park, bored out of their minds watching their kids play.

So kids and also my kids spend their afternoons in bed or in a chair looking at their computers and iPads playing video games, getting chubby. (mine are flabby butterballs)

I do realize weirdos are out there that prey on the kids.. that doesn’t detract from my point though, I think thing are a little over the top right.
BTW this all happened in northern California.

The difference between Let's Move and Trump's proposal.

Trump's are team sports.

I always thought it best to have intermural sports teams instead of focusing on one team per sport.

Thank God we won’t have to be subjected to any more of those pansy poses Obama gave during a sports exhibition on the White House lawn.

People have actually passed laws to explicitly allow free-range parenting, as it is called.

But we were once Free.

When I was in school President Kennedy had a physical fitness plan that the schools PE classes participated in. And it was a real physical fitness routine...so many sit ups, jumping jacks, toe touches, etc. And we had to run laps. It was done every day before any sport was played.

What ever happened to PE? I don’t think it’s part of our schools any more.

They still have presidential fitness tests, but they do not do the exercises every day.
