The Spy Who Befriended Me - [title to long].

... Clovis, who made the final decision in March 2016 to bring both Page and Papadopoulos onto the campaign, had no inclination that Halper was spying on Trump associates. Clovis and Halper met for coffee on Aug. 31 or Sept. 1, 2016 near Washington. Clovis said the conversation was innocuous, focusing mostly on foreign policy issues, including China, one of Halper’s areas of expertise. ...

I've always have been suspicious of both Page and Papadopoulos and still am. I'm adding Clovis to the list. Thinking he's now a contender for the campaign plant.

Halper just has that "That was easy" button on him. At least I think so.

Clovis has the Iowa GOP connection, and in the main, if Iowa ‘Pubs aren’t incompetent, they are corrupt. Sure, less corrupt than Democrat counterparts, but that is setting the bar pretty low.

Someday, Oliver Stone will make a movie about all this... Just like he did for JFK & LBJ.

I knew Halper was the guy early on. Halper is just a skin eruption on the cancer below...the people who put him in place need to swing.

Good insight. Makes a lot of sense. But when posting, I think you should put your comments in the “Body of Comment” box rather than the “Body of Thread” box, otherwise it looks like the Daily Caller author’s insight rather than yours (despite the font difference).

Papadopoulos has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about the timing of his encounters with Mifsud and two Russian nationals. (Not on the fact that he met with them; just that he got his dates wrong.)

Isn't this why a perjury trap is to be avoided? It's why people think the FBI is out to frame Trump and his allies.

That did not go unnoticed on my end, but I try to avoid endless speculation when I post.

Read the entire article at Daily Caller to understand just how the spying was carried out. It is easy to understand and very frightening that our FBI/DOJ would do something like this. They never dreamed that Trump would win.

Criminal evidence...paper trails, electronic evidence......was left just casually strewn about.

Nothing to worry about b/c Hillary was supposed to sweep it all under the Oval Office rug.

“Page and Halper first met at an election-themed symposium held at Cambridge on July 11 and 12, 2016, several days after Page’s now-infamous speech at the New Economic School in Moscow.

Halper approached Page on the sidelines of the event, and the pair struck up what Page thought to be a friendship...

...

Page noted that in their first conversation at Cambridge, Halper said he was longtime friends with then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort. A person close to Manafort told TheDCNF that Manafort has not seen Halper since the Gerald Ford administration...”

The Spy Who Loved Me lol
Halper is very good at what he does/did. Made initial contact, befrinded him, name dropped another target, lied about friendship with Mannafort, yup, he’s good.

This is BEFORE the pappadop drunken aussie dude convo used as “The Excuse” to launch the counterintel op. Lieng liars, all.

Brennan sent his spy out and he did good. It probably got launched in late April. Takes time to plan, get it all set up.

And the IG CAN’T investigate Brennan, nor the State Department, Kerry, Clapper, Hillary, or Obama.

Halper did a very good job? The verdict isn’t in on that yet. I think Trump did a better job and the scheme was sniffed out early. Thus the ham handed charges against Trump. Trump was tipped off. And not just by the admiral and the 702 searches which was likely specific conformation.

They were cocksure they were going to catch him and doubled down when they didn’t. The spies laid traps and Trump sprung them all with a stick.

This sounds like spy novel 101, except that it’s not fiction. It was done by our government against a candidate from the other party and then continued against the duly elected President of the United States. No wonder the Dems did everything they could to try to prevent DJT from being inaugurated.

If there is a real investigation into this by the Justice Dept IG, there is a jurisdictional problem. Was Halper working initially for the CIA or the FBI? DoJ’s IG has no authority over CIA. The investigation Trump is calling for requires broad authority to look at CIA, the Obama White House, etc.

I suspect that Halper was drawn into this without actually being told he was part of an “echo” operation. (I.e., he might have been under the impression he was helping ferret out REAL Russian spies/helping fools, rather than participating in a coup.) That doesn’t mean he didn’t figure it out or know from other sources. Halper doesn’t seem like the type who would risk his lucrative career getting caught in something this ugly. My hope is that he was lied to and used, and is angry enough to spill some beans to investigators.
