The problem I see is the North Korean people adjusting to the idea that it is OK to think. For 70 years, people in North Korea have been living in a police state that has been more severe than East Germany. In years before the fall of the Berlin Wall, the people in East Germany still had some contact with the west, with some stuff done on the sly with a little payoff to the right people in real currency (D-Marks, Francs, Pounds, Dollars, etc). Not the case in Norkland, which had efficiently insulated themselves from the outside (except for select members of the nomenklatura, and even that was extremely risky). So everyone in Norkland spends every waking second walking on eggshells, afraid if anything could be interpreted as a slight against Gteat Leader/Dear Leader/what do they call Kim Jong Un.
Yes, after the missile crisis in Cubar. :)
More like Brazil.
1. Nuclear fallout
Probably similar to Germany. Those deemed too old to participate would be probably just be pensioned off and the younger ones would be given an education to help them adapt.
Not clicking on Time to see the mysterious 5 problems. But one of them should be how do you do it without going after 10,000+ people for crimes against humanity. Do we just ignore what they did to the victims if they give up the nukes and reunify with South Korea or what?
Freegards
Not going to happen so file this article under “Fantasy”. Maybe in 50 years when the Kim family is long dead and buried.
BTTT.
What a load of crap was that article.
North Korea is bankrupt and starving. Kim has nuclear weapons and that is all he has. He has a choice of joining South Korea in peace or perhaps being killed by his own military.
It is doubtful he has a delivery system for his nuclear weapons unless he had Chinese designs or perhaps Pakistan. It is easy to make a big bomb. It is not easy to make miniaturized suitable for an ICBM that could hit the USA. Kims reentry vehicles have not been tested in real world circumstances.
Transaction - “It’s going to be complicated and hard - no wonder no other President really wanted to deal with it.....
Helping put NK on it’s feet, might be just the thing to put GE back on it’s feet! NK needs electricity, and all those things that use electricity.
I read an account of a guy sent to their gulag. He was supposed to wear a lapel pin extolling the Leader on a certain day. He forgot. Someone ratted him out, and he, his immediate family, and parents all got sent to the camps for that transgression.
Many think his reentry vehicle is ultimately going to be a shipping container!
And hey, it's a proven technology.
