I think that you are quite mistaken on this point. If government's thought that CC's were a threat to their established monetary system, all that they would have to do is ban them.

If government's thought that CC's were a threat to their established monetary system, all that they would have to do is ban them One of the main reasons bitcoin went absurdly high last December was the threat of some governments banning them. One of the main uses was capital flight and there's a huge demand for value that can be transported across the world and cashed in on the other side. The only reason the price didn't crash was that the people doing that had no reason to cash in and draw attention to themselves.
A ban of a data transfer is basically impossible without detaching the country from the internet. So it's not bannable and won't be banned, for the most part.
