Some say the Glock G43 is a pretty difficult handgun to shoot. Strong hand only shooting doesnt make it easier. At least if youre engaging targets further away than 15 yards with precision and you care to know.
But the G43 has a lot of other qualities, its size is one of them. Fully loaded at 634 g / 22.36 oz isnt bad either.
If youre shooting a competition with a Glock 43, your planning will be similar to the people shooting revolver. Youre going to have to plan around 6 rounds per magazine change, that's typically three targets (in IPSC) then youre empty.
Unless you start with a round in the chamber or, where rules allow, can use a magazine extender.
Here are a few more pictures with two empties in the air. Another Glock, but a larger frame.
The G43 is our new single stack, 9mm pistol. Its the most highly desired and anticipated release in GLOCKs history. The G43 is the answer to your everyday concealed carry needs. Its ultra-concealable, accurate and fantastic for all shooters regardless of hand size. Read the rest of the Glock G43 double tap here.
Get an XDS in .45. I like it much better than the Glock.

Get an XDS in .45.
That’s my daily carry.
Thats my daily carry.
Us too. The bonus is all the extra stuff you get; spare mags, Mag holder, holster, and the price is better. We found 2 used copies with the boxes and gear for less than $400 a piece.
What a bargain.

In Arizona, warm weather attire limits conceal-ability, but a .38 special snubbie slides right into the front pocket.
Glock 36. 6 rounds plus one in the pipe.
Some thoughts:
I shoot some IDPA, but have not shot IPSC. But I practice and shoot defensive shooting skills, which is what IDPA is supposed to promote...until all the competitors start tricking out their guns and accessories that one would never do with a gun you carry for personal protection (open or concealed). Things like large mag well adaptors (for those that just cant index a mag like the rest of us), big optics, super extended shotgun magazine tubes, and tactical vests for oversized mags, etc. At that point you’re shooting a game, not necessarily practicing defensive skills, which is ok, just so long as you call it what it is. I can understand LEO’s practicing with their normal vest/duty belt.
Likewise for tactics. For example, you can run to a position in the open where all the targets are exposed and then shoot them faster than if you pie the wall/door/corner and engage them one at a time while not exposing yourself to what, in real life, would be incoming fire. Sure, you get a better time, but is that how you want to train yourself to react to a real firefight? I don’t want to be standing out in the open being a bullet sponge. So at IDPA, I have to remind myself what habits I am trying to engrain.
So back to the article, I carry a Glock 43 for CCW. Yes it only has a 6 round mag but its really concealable on the waist for a small framed person such as myself. Its very light. And I can get 10 round mags for practice to minimize the reloads. Its not a competition gun, its a defensive CCW gun.
M&P Shield here.
Glock 29 for carry!! if you’re going to shoot something, shoot like you mean it.
I live in south Alabama. We have a little bit of heat problem, too, along with some ridiculous humidity. I have aRuger LCP for a pocket gun but, and this is strictly a personal decision, I want more fire power than that. I have been able to conceal my XDs pretty well with a Fobus holster while wearing a t shirt. Unfortunately over the last year or so it seems to print more than it used to. I think it has something to do with me getting fat, but I’m not sure.
I would already have a 43 if I did not already have a 42. Normal carry is 26 +1 with two spare mags. I carry 42 at home and gym. Will start running it when I retake advanced handgun classes.
I don’t know about more firepower. If I’m so far away that I need something badder than the snubby, I’m far enough away to run.
Gonna get a lot of weird looks on this one: Taurus PT 740 .40 S&W. Like the G 43 quite a bit but has a frame mounted 1911 like safety. In my carry rotation a lot because it is incredibly concealable.
