105 cruise missiles is hardly a major event
My Fetid Mind | April 14th, 2018 | Mariner

For all those who are steamed up over the strike in Syria, just remember HHS loses that much money in accounting errors every month.

$100 million for 105 cruise missiles.

As for their actual impact, 105 cruise missiles are no more a deterrent for Assad, nor provocation for Russia, than the 59 cruise missiles last year.

It's apparent Russia turned off their S400 systems and let the US have a fireworks display.

Nobody believes it changes anything in Syria. Or the calculus employed in Iran or Norklandia.

From 600 or so miles out!

The media has been running articles for years about the 'invincible' S-400.

Some time ago though, Boeing announced they were upgrading the Growlers to deal with the S-400

I just figured at the time someone had bribed Yuri and he handed over the circuit boards.

Amazing that the Russians have still never fired the invincible S-400 in combat...

A temporary hiatus in chemical weapon production until the facilities are rebuilt underground.

Qatar.

Interesting, the B1's took off from Qatar, Way out of S-400 range, ...but really close to the Islamic Terrorist states that want to supply their natural gas to Western Europe with a pipeline through Syrian Territory that Assad will not allow.

And this was a Limey and Frog proposed strike, with the Limeys withholding the "Proof" of Assad's guilt that they swear they've got.

Actually, the way to look at is that Qatar doesn’t like that Iranian puppet Assad either and let us use their bases to launch the strike.

This was wrong

There is zero proof that Assad used chem weapons

It makes no sense for him to do it just a week after Trump said he would move out troops, when he was winning easily using conventional weapons.

Mattis says he has seen conclusive evidence of both Syrian and Russians using chemical weapons.

Maybe. Won't be cheap though. And that's money he can't spend taking back the 80% of the country out of his control.

As I’m sure you’re aware, but many aren’t, not every TLAM is the same. Additionally, there’s some interesting physics at play when confronting a stream raid.

Actually, the way to look at is that Qatar and Saudi Arabia are Thirteenth Century Islamic Terrorist states that the US, UK and ESPECIALLY France should have Nuked back to the Stone Age and turned their "Mecca" into a mile diameter glass bowl.

Yes, the Tomahawk is a very good weapon and has proven it's self repeatedly, and has versatility. Many call it antiquated and expensive, but it still has a solid place in the US arsenal.

Also, the Russians would need to launch two S-400 System interceptor missiles to be certain to neutralize one Tomahawk, far more than they can resupply to maintain protection for RUSSIAN assets.

Lol. No they’re not. Only the ones that aren’t close to civilians were. That’s clear from the briefings. They also had a week to move all the days out. That was part of the brief that I particularly LOL’d at: “we destroyed data”. Yeah right. As if they just left it there for a week waiting to be blown up. Come on. If you believe we got even 10%...I’ve got a bridge to sell you. Are people this dumb? Do they think we are?

Seems more like an opportunity to use up missiles that were nearing expiration of their shelf life.

It more than paid for itself in the message sent to Iran, Russia and the region. The United States can act with impunity and Russia can’t save you.

Russia turned and looked the other way while this was happening. Tell me, what did we accomplish other than killing some camels and other "wildlife" in Syria?

Not much. Not anything.
