The Senate use ‘pro forma’ sessions during what would otherwise be recess to prevent the President from making recess appointments. That’s what’s going on right now.

McTurdle won’t let Trump have any recess appointments.

They did the Pro-Forma sessions under Obama to prevent him for making appointments, but to the best of my knowledge they are not doing that under Trump as for the most part only Democrats are delaying or holding up confirmations. The republican Senate Majority can Recess the Senate anytime they want to and they have been doing that over their Holiday breaks.

Thanks for the reply but I'm confused...

"Labor Day is Tuesday, May 1st. "

As a commoner with some common sense and an understanding of chain of command, I totally share your frustration. In my simple mind fixing the problem should be just as straightforward as you’ve said.

So the best we can do is to reveal the truth about this treason to the American people and that requires the release of unredacted information from FBI/DOJ. Our political system was undermined by conspiratorial elements of the Obama administration. They simply must be exposed for their treachery.
___________________________________________

I agree with a lot of this. The truth about the weaponization of the DOJ/FBI and rest of the deep state must be revealed to the American people. But much has been revealed already and we haven’t seen the reaction from Congress and the American people that I would hope for/ expect. So, I am not sure revealing some more documents or unredacted versions of those document (by Congress) will change much.

I do think that the termination of McCabe was big and should have been bigger. His peers did that. Too many tried to minimize that. Ultimately, DOJ/FBI must be reformed from within. This was a start.

If the IG’s report is less restrained than you predict, that could help. There are reasons to be optimistic. Here is a good history or Horowitz: https://www.themarketswork.com/2017/12/23/an-introduction-to-inspector-general-michael-horowitz/

If Horowitz exposes the abuses of McCabe, Comey et. al in a significant way, that could be big and could help with the gumption that will be required for the Utah prosecutor to put McCabe in jail.

Horowitz’s work has resulted in a lot of activity within the deep state, including a significant of resignations and demotions. https://www.themarketswork.com/2018/02/18/resignations-demotions-some-details-complicity-at-the-fbi-doj/

If the facts are just set out in further detail by Congress (perceived to be biased because of partisanship), I don’t see sufficient reaction on the horizon for real reform.

People have to go to jail, in my opinion.

Sorry, I made a mistake. I was looking at my Calendar and it showed Labor Day on Tuesday May 1st, but I missed the “MX” notation after that. I guess the next bug Holiday recess is Memorial Day on Monday, May 28th. That doesn’t mean this lazy bunch will not have an excuse for another recess before then. Sorry about the Labor Day error.

People have to go to jail, in my opinion.

*************

I hope that happens. But look at the infamous Lois Lerner who played a significant role in the political weaponization of the IRS. After all that, she is now enjoying a comfortable taxpayer paid retirement instead of being behind bars. And I might add, the notroious Commissioner of the IRS, John Kishkinon, only recently left his position.

Without belaboring the point, the elites in DC rarely pay a high price for their wrongdoing and corruption. Even if they are caught, they know how to grind out the process so that legal action takes years and usually ends in some minor inconvenience to them in terms of a financial penalty, probation or a minimal sentence in a country club like “prison”.

One of the reasons why so few people ever do time or are ever held accountable is that the rest of Washington is afraid they might turn on them and expose their own transgressions. Best not to punish those who might open the closet door and expose skeltons.

Washington is corrupt. Slapping wrists won’t fix the problem. My preferred solution would be to expose the deep seated corruption and use that to reform and/or reorganize the agencies to make them more accountable.

Unfortunately for us, the self-serving congress is only interested in keeping their seats, perks, access to inside information, and campaign donations. They don’t care about us. That’s why we elected Trump. He has the power to make some beneficial administrative changes.

There is no doubt in my mind that the FBI and DOJ hired people with liberal mindsets

****************

Most of the bureaucrats and employees in Washington DC are liberals. They love the plethora of ever expanding government programs that sustains them. They feed at the trough of tax dollars that pour into DC, treasure their job security, and love their generous benefits. The vote to protect their lifestyle.

I seriously doubt that even 10% of people who work for the government are conservative. I once worked on a contract for IRS. Nearly every fed I came in contact held liberal views or favored the Democrat Party.

The other two people who just got some presidential cover on Saturday are FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who are now free to take some or all of the bad actors who have been conducting the document production stonewall. If they’re too squeamish to take the media heat for such firings themselves, they can always point to the President’s and congress’s frustrations as the justification for finally, at long last taking some action to break up the logjam at their agencies.

DB, you describe the history of the stonewalling problem well. But I'm not as confident in Wray and Sessions as you are.

I believe Wray is a stonewalling, Deep State sympathizer and I believe the recused Sessions doesn't like to get involved.

We shall see.

I would also add that Meadows said last night that impeachment was another option. I assume he was talking about Rosenstein. But with the impeachment option as well as with the toss-Rosenstein-in-jail option, the chairman are going to need the support of the RINO leadership. So what are the chances of that.

Congress controls the purse to the DOJ. Instead of appropriating funds to the Department, real congressional leadership would offer to allow them to view the money in a secure room, but not actually have until such time as the documents are produced.

Very creative.

Put the money on a fishing line and taunt Rod Rosenweasel to take it.

"Oh, you almost had it this time".

I can’t understand why the FBI and DOJ offices and employees homes haven’t been SWAT raided by now. If this were a crime syndicate or corporation, they would have been raided many times over.

In fact, because we are dealing with dirty investigators and prosecutors, we need the most aggressive action possible. These people are masters of concealment and obfuscation because that’s what they see everyday in the course of their routine investigatory work.

We need to put maximum pressure on these disgusting reprobates and swamp creatures. When these pukes go for a target, they’re ruthless and they threaten life and liberty to get people talking. Let’s do it twice as hard to them.

These people are traitors. This was an attempted coup. They deserve the death penalty.

So, for the moment, we’re left with the IG and the Utah prosecutor.

Huber's task at the moment, as is outline in the Seesions letter, is to marshal DOJ resources for any existing investigations(Maryland and Arkansas) and any future investigations or SCs. Huber isn't currently tasked to prosecute or to do any of the specific investigations.

IG Horowitz just started his FISA abuse investigation a week or two ago. He has a long way to go, and many of the subjects he would need to talk to aren't in his jurisdiction.
