C39V2 – American AK47
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 3/26/2018 | T Whitlock

Posted on 03/26/2018 5:07:11 AM PDT by w1n1

While elegant isn't a term usually associated with an AK-47, the C39v2 earns the descriptor. With a milled receiver machined from a solid 11-pound block of 4140 ordnance-quality steel and lightening grooves on each side, gone is the rough industrial look of the traditional stamped AK. Marry this receiver to the high-quality wooden forend furniture and Warsaw-length stock, finish the receiver and barrel inside and out in black nitrite, and you have one classy-looking rifle!

The obvious upgrades to the v2 include the sights, magazine release and safety that have been changed from the original Century Arms C39. After much feedback they brought back the traditional AK iron sights, allowing those with standard AK sight tools to breathe a sigh of relief. The new oversized T-shaped extended magazine catch might appear to be cumbersome at first glance; however, just as oversized controls on pistols and shotguns have proven useful, the v2’s large release proved an asset for aggressive and fast magazine changes.

A contemporary AK shooter will wish there was a side mount for optics while AK traditionalists may shed a tear when they find the C39v2 lacks a bayonet lug and cleaning rod. However, this allows it to adhere to California laws, and is available in a bullet button version to make West Coasters leap with joy. Read the rest of the C39V2 American AK story here.

It doesn't matter to the anti-gunners what features it has or doesn't have their end goal is total removal (read confiscation/theft) of all firearms not in government hands

All the best stocks are Warsaw length stocks, is my opinion.

They are already over the top. This might put them into psychotic meltdown.

I say let's run full page ads in all the appropriate places.

That’s a fact. The lefties want the American people disarmed so they (the lefties) can subdue them to their will. Lefties have ALWAYS been for total control over the people, and they know they can’t do that as long as the people are armed and have the means to resist.

From one of the comments at the link, written in 2016:

“Both the C39V2 and RAS47 use the very same cast steel
components that have been accused of failing , under normal
conditions ….. Graphic pictures were recently posted by the AK
Operators Union , documenting what allegedly happens to these
cast parts as the bullet count goes up …. You Be The Judge !
At 500 rds. , pictures look OK ,,,,, at 1000 rds, pictures show
unusual wear ….. at 1500 rds. bolt and carrier are allegedly trashed ….. more pictures by others , now showing up !”

I inherited a MAK-90 that I stripped all the wood off of and replaced with scary black assault plastic pieces. Even the cheap China stamped knock-off is a reliable machine. I have despised the M-16/AR-15 platform since its inception except for the few with woodwork on them, and those who seek a more respectable caliber of weapon than the original...at least they are trying....

Having a milled receiver and high quality top end and barrel, this thing gives me a warm and fuzzy.

Those who cant tote a decent rifle are the pussies that the story refers to when the gym membership is mentioned.

Is this the same modle that Rob has been testing on th AK Operators Union youtube channel. He didn’t have good things to say about it.

I like American made stuff, but the Bulgarian AKS have been the best quality in my experience.

No, I havent followed to much on the AK modernization but I would like one with a milled receiver, but dont want to have to buy a new bolt and carrier every 2000 rounds.

I have shot this MAK-90 in excess of 4-5000 rounds and have neglected it like an AK should be, but when I scrape all the carbon out of it and give it a dose of Hoppe’s #9, it cleans up fine and the innards show some cyclic wear but still look new.

The reason pushing me to want a stamped receiver is, this gun is a cheap knock-off piece of Chinese crap and is the most fun shooting gun I have. I plink more with it than my .22. I would love to have a nice one but guns should be built to last forever.

I have a MAK-90 with upgraded furniture and the required number of US-made parts to make it legal. Norinco knows how to make them. Also have a milled receiver Bulgarian AK, made by Arsenal, I believe. Haven’t fired it yet. I got them new when they were dirt cheap, circa 1996.

My elder son didn’t like M-16/ARs. I gave him the MAK-90 for his 18th birthday when he joined the Marines but it reverted back to me.

This story was already promoted before. The C39v2 and RAS47 are dangerous crap.

If you want an AK, buy a WASR, Yugo NPAP, or Arsenal. Saiga and VEPR are great too but they are currently on the ban list and more expensive.

Lots of issues with these rifles.

Actually there's no need for a milled receiver as the Russians discovered.

Too heavy and expensive.

Our Romanian models work just fine although we did put the Tapco triggers in them.
