Been running Ghostery for a while now. Seems to be working fine in Win10 best I can tell. Pretty much devoid of ads. d:^)

Malwarebytes should clean this up.
Its not Windows which is sending this but some website you stepped on.
Adware blocker is also a great one for cleaning this up.

You can use the “Brave” browser .......

I’ll have to find my Win 10 hard drive and see what are these ads you speak of

Assuming you are referring to web browser ads:

Assume you're having trouble with ads appearing in your browser. If that is the case, see Adblock Plus. Fantastic free tool for blocking ads. Plus you can create a personalized list of things to block. Hate, as I do, the roll-down stuff that blocks part of your screen? You can block that with ABP.

You will have to put up with websites complaining about your use of an ad blocker. Some sites will not allow access if you have an ad blocker. In that case, disable the blocker before accessing.

When prompted to install anything you didn’t buy, just say no and never run on an admin account unless you have to. Rarely is it necessary.

Use Firefox. Add NoScript, AdBlockPlus, and Ghostery. Firefox isn’t as good as it used to be, but it beats anything you’ll get from Microsoft.

I’m currently using Brave for this; more ads, but faster and cleaner than the bloated Firefox.

What ads? You must have gone to a bad website. Go here and get the free download for win10.
https://www.malwarebytes.com/

Then get firefox browser and use the adblock app.

Good luck

Judging by his initial request for help, it would be a struggle to explain/walk-through setting up a non-admin account for him.

You could give more info ...

Do you mean browser ads? What browser?

Do you mean ad-supported software? What program(s)?
