In a Saturday interview on The Axe Files with host David Axelrod, Sen. Jeff Flake, R.-R.-Ariz. said he has remained in touch with former President Barack Obama, and claimed that the Republican party is in a bad place.
Flake acknowledged that he still speaks with Obama, who recently called Flake to see how he was faring following his announcement that he would not seek reelection.
The Hill reported, During that speech, Flake heavily criticized President Trump and said he would no longer be complicit or silent while the president continues his reckless, outrageous and undignified behavior.
On Saturday, Flake complimented Obama for reaching out to him just before he left the White House. The last night he was in the White House, the day before inauguration he called just to say that he enjoyed working with me, Flake said. And I certainly said the same. He didnt have to do that. It was very nice.
During his interview with the former Obama adviser, Flake said the Trump cabinet meetings are painful to watch and said that the Republican party is currently in a bad place.
Theres not much place for a Republican like me in a party like this right now, Flake said.

Phoenix is basically Los Angeles East now. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see the Dems pick up Flake’s seat.

Flake will be announcing changing party after his retirement, perhaps sooner if Obama can convince him to do it “now”.
