If you are a member of a health sharing ministry like Medishare, are you allowed to contribute new money to an existing HSA? Assume there is no employer coverage / employer contributions.
As I understand it, you can, as long as you have a large deductible, can’t recall how big. It’s probably ambiguous enough that if the feds wanted to litigate it, they could, but they have not.
I don’t think you can. You could get a high deductible short term health insurance plan, which are expanding in usefulness now undwe the Trump Administration and then use an HSA.
I would think that would be among questions # 1-5 in any such providers FAQ section.
We had the same question a while ago. The answer is No
