Must revolution be violent? Must men meet on the battlefield to affect change? Must revolution upend an older society and replace it with a new one? Wouldnt a 21st century restoration of free American government without resort to violence be revolutionary?
Pennsylvanias Framer James Wilson thought so:
Sovereignty in the people was not a novel concept; the hundred years since the Glorious Revolution and eleven years since the Declaration of Independence reinforced in English minds the peoples natural right to govern themselves as they please. This is all well and good in Wilsons flattering theory, but what, despite written Constitutional precautions, if the peoples government goes awry or governing forms ill-serve society? What was novel was that revolution need not instill discord, rancor or war.
Man is fatally incapable of forming any enduring system free from corruption. The idea of incorporating a plan of reformation in the Constitution, which formalized peaceful means to return to first principles in a rational revolution, was a new contribution to political science. Our Framers discovered a constitutional cure wholly popular, and strictly republican for the ancient diseases of a republican polity. In rational revolution the people do not burn down cities or behead high government criminals in fits of rage. Well before society explodes, they act within the supreme law of the land to avoid destruction.

There is nothing wrong with the Constitution and it does Not need to be Article 5-ed.
Govt pays NO Attention to the Constitution.
What on earth would make anyone think Govt would get in line and heed the Constitution if we Changed it?
Govt itself must be downsized Everywhere.
We currently have exactly what we need in the Executive.
A man of 2 Words.
“You’re Fired!”
I want the process accelerated.
Thew Constitution has failed. It is a failed document. Judicial activism must be made unconstitutional. That is just one thing. You are stupid and naive to think otherwise.
Cut the ties of a corrupt DC that cannot be fixed with a few tweaks here and there.
bkmk
Here is an amendment that will mark the beginning of the return to free government:
Amendment XXVIII - The 17th Amendment is hereby repealed.
“Must revolution be violent?”
America has been undergoing a non-violent revolution for the last 50 years.
OUTSTANDING post/thread BUMP!
Exactly.
Essentially ALL of our national problems are because the Constitution has been ignored and/or abandoned. And abridged - the 17th Amendment for example being a huge one.
Undoing that one alone would make huge changes......
I’m stupid and naive?
And How is altering the Constitution going to prevent the Same Judicial Activists from ignoring whatever we tack onto the Constitution which they’re Already ignoring?
They’re going to play by the New Rules we tack on when they’ve already ignored the existing ones?
Put down the bong.

You’ll need to add another 50+ to that tally...ol’ Teddy, Wilson, FDR...I’d even say the Constitution was farked during Lincoln’s tenure (WHOLE bunch of Con. violations, and it wasn’t insurrection [the South didn’t want to take over D.C.]).
The Constitution is violated and abused w/ a wink and a nod from all 3 branches.
Hell, We can’t even keep the STATES (the ‘more local = more control’ dreamers) from violating the same.
Fedzilla won’t force the States, States violates the true Fed authority and ‘round and ‘round it goes. The only ones ‘bending over’ are We the People.
Thanks, PG. I’d respond to more posters if they actually read my material.
I agree with you in principle about the Constitution not needing to be amended, except for the ill-conceived 17th Amendment. The 17th Amendment effectively changed the country from a constitutional republic to a mob-ruled democracy imo.
The 17th Amendment needs to be repealed yesterday imo.
The 16th Amendment can disappear too.
The 16th and 17th amendment need to be repealed at a minimum. the Constitution has failed. It’s as plain as the nose on your face.
It is the people who have failed the Constitution, not the other way around.
Principle behind it is older than dirt.
“The price good men pay for their indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.”

I am veteran and you are sir are completely clueless.
Thank You for your service.
Now go read a real book, or maybe even 3 or 4 four since I no longer have the time or interest to educate illiterates one by one.
You retards always want the last word. Get your head out of your rear. The US Constitution is dead. You know it but wont admit it.
Why is it if I’m the Retard, because I always need the Last Word, your ego has to keep coming back to hurl unsubstantiated personal slurs and insults at me?
A lesser man would be tempted to ask you what Your solution would be, but since you have this manic obsession with refusing to understand that the Constitution requires, and has always required, sweat, sore muscles, blood and our national treasure to uphold, . . . I’m not interested in Your master plan to rewrite my country’s rules of the road, . . . as you’ve made it abundantly plain already that Totalitarianism is your end game.
The nuts and bolts of it are meaningless.
And BTW, Bub, I’m not the one who Started hurling baseless insults.
You are.
As if I needed anything more to support my accusation of totalitarian motives on your part.
