Barack’s turned out a lot better even though it looks like he is being eaten by the background greenery.
I did a Google search and an artist named Wayne Pascall captured a much better likeness (that doesn’t look like odd bits stuck together).
That Wayne Pascall portrait is outstanding. It’s an excellent likeness and is really flattering to Michelle O. That silly “official portrait” looks nothing like her and will be the butt of many jokes.
I think Amy Sherald rendition of Michelle Obama was hostile. Our former First Lady is represented looking more like her daughter than herself - and the ‘whites and grays’ show her condemned for being ‘establishment’. Toward the bottom of the painting are the power stripes... more than in other works of this artist, but it's too campy.
It's an interesting work but disappointing. It won't survive the test of time. Michelle Obama deserves better.
