Glock filed a bid protest in Feb. 2017, arguing that Army Material Command did not properly evaluate the MHS proposal.Apparently they were correct.

I remember that a great outpouring on FR saying there is no reason to spend money on developing a sidearm for military use, that just buy they off the shelf.
As has been shown with past “buy them off the shelf” like with SUVs, civilian use and military use are miles apart.

Striker fired handguns do not belong in the Army.
To: PROCON
It is totally unacceptable to have issues like described in the article arise after a contract is awarded and guns placed in the hands of our warriors. How many years was the lead up and testing for the Sig? The stricker issue is nuts. Drop tests are supposed to be standard quality control. Here we have two Sig variants failing the test after the gun is in production.

If you are still using lead ball ammo, why do you need a new gun? 1911 forever! Up grade or modify it. Save a bundle.

I will say this for Glock: I have 4 of them and used two at work in different calibers. I have fired many tens of K of rounds though them in total. I have NEVER had a problem with any ammo I have used. No jams, no multi feeds, FTEs or fires without using the trigger. NADA. My sole reason for not recommending them is I do not like a trigger safety.

The army chould issue two to
off the shelf glocks to each soldier for what it paid.
To: PROCON
Consumer backlash was fierceOh, when? I own two Sig Sauer P320 and watched the whole issue closely, sent both in for free update. All went smooth. Never saw anyone freaking out over this. Only commentary seemed ginned up by Glock folks.
I own two Sig Sauers and two Glock. My newest Glock, a Gen4 34 MOS had a defective pin. Easily fixed, nothing perfect.

I have several “off the shelf” handguns with quite a history of reliable service. starting with a black powder Colt through to my beautiful Parabelum. the comparison doesn’t float with handguns generally.

Extended mag, drum if needed. Its not the major side arm. Maybe the side arm should be an Uzi or bring back the Broom handle Mauser? Larger magazine, yes but do you need a golf bag to carry the extra ammo? Pistols aren’t spray and pray weapons. LOL, I played enough Call of Duty and SE4 games to know that. I gave my son a video game years ago and now I find myself playing them on his new player. I’ve become of weapons expert, I can prove it, I have all the gold guns now. LOL!

I wonder why the military complex thought it necessary to switch from the Beretta M9. Money?

Seems really dumb to me, to
- define just one “platform”
- from a single vendor
- that’s not even a US company
but what do I know?
