A perfect time of year in Maine, bugs are mostly gone, and the days are still fairly comfortable. Go North with a packed lunch and hike into Sandy Stream pond in Baxter Park for a chance to see a Moose. Winter Harbor and the Schoodic portion of Acadia are a little quieter than Bar Harbor but they don’t have the tourist shops that Bar Harbor does.

The Maine working coast is easier to observe without the tourism when you travel East of Acadia. For a New England state, Maine is actually quite large and you can wear yourself out just getting around.

I hope you enjoy yourself. I came here almost 50 years ago as a young man, fell in love with a wonderful young woman and stayed.

Cape Elizabeth lighthouse by Portland. We took rt 1 tour from Portland to Booths Bay to Bar Harbor few years ago. Beautiful. We also went to Ogonquit, beatiful town and did the walk along Marginal Way. Stunning walk along the ocean and cliffs that end up in small fishing town
