I'm not a big fan of Rosenstein but this is a gross mischaracterization of what happened.
Rosenstein DID draft a letter or memo outlining the reasons why Comey should be fired. Then President Trump completely undermined Rosenstein with that stupid Lester Holt interview a few days later when he said he wanted to fire Comey anyway. This put Rosenstein in a position where he could very well have been duped by his superiors into writing a recommendation to fire Comey under false pretenses.
No its not. Trump’s remarks in his interview with Holt was to take the heat off of Rothemstein who was under immense criticism. Trump said he was going to fire him anyway. So Trump took the heat and Rothenstein scewed him for it.
Sorry it was all a setup.
