Is this the year Georgia turns blue?
Politico ^ | January 22, 2018 | Daniel Strauss

Emboldened by statewide victories last year in Virginia and Alabama, Democrats are setting their sights this fall on another Deep South prize once thought to be out of reach: Georgia’s governorship, a seat the party hasn’t held in more than 15 years.

The party has two major candidates with a lot in common: Stacey Abrams and Stacey Evans are both veterans of the Georgia state House. Both are running as unapologetic liberals who see a path to victory guided by tapping into black voters, whom they see as an electoral sleeping giant — and courting suburban whites who usually vote Republican but are repelled by President Donald Trump.

As a Georgia resident, let me say this: outside of the Atlanta metro counties, the (D) candidates are the deep south equivalent of Moonbat in CA.

While the Atlanta metro will pull the Party lever, the rest of the state will not.

Not yet.

If the Dems ran better candidates, maybe, but not these ones.

I know what you are talking about but we are a minority. Unfortunately most Yankees pull the lever for the same party that forced them to move in the first place.

Having one off, single focus, special elections is one thing. Winning everything in a midterm election year is another.

Watch out.....it will happen........

Northern VA with its Federal workers, companies sucking the Federal tit & millionaires took over Virginia.

In time metro Atlanta will do the same in GA.......

Progressives love and thrive in large cities......

Cobb, Douglas, Gwinnett - all heavily traditional RED counties have now turned blue.

It’s inevitable that this will happen. And Atlanta is becoming a cesspool. The writing is clearly on the wall.

Unfortunately most Yankees pull the lever for the same party that forced them to move in the first place.

There is truth in that. I believe a lot depends on why the people move. An old hippie moving from NYC to Vermont for an early retirement is going to wreck the state. However, of the throngs of northeasterners that moved to the Tech Triangle in NC in the '80s started picking up the local vibe. Further, the conservatives are more likely that the liberals to move south (with Atlanta being an unfortunate exception), as they form families in a more conservative area, they pick up the local zeitgeist a bit. My culturally conservative, but reserved Canadian wife marvels at the way southern ladies speak their mind (Little League, home school groups, etc.) and provide corporal instruction to children in public (now illegal throughout Canada).

It’s all about the Benjamins. It costs a lot of cash to get Democrat votes at the polls. Precinct captains don’t work for free anymore.

no disagreement with you about Cobb/ Gwinnett/ Fulton.

Add Clayton county.

Hall (where we live) went >95% for Trump, and we border Fulton and Gwinnett.

Governors are local politics, and locally we are NOT as blue as nationally. Too many local connections.

Were it not for ~1,000 “magic ballots” arriving late-night from DeKalb county, Atlanta might have had a fairly light-blue mayor. Instead, ATL got Bottoms and all her politics.

It sounds like the far left “dreamers” in the liberal “mainstream media” are dreaming that their ‘RAT comrades can sneak “amnesty” for illegal aliens through Congress.

2016, the rest of Michigan beat Detroit. It takes a lot, but it’s possible. Just have to convince the resistant idiots to actually go and vote in greater numbers than vote fraud can produce.

They aren’t going to lose ATL without an severe fight - but the city’s demographics are changing also. It’s always in flux.

I live in Cherokee - the last 2 years shows me that we’ll be Gwinnett in about 5 years or so.

It’s just a matter of time until they pipe in enough immigrants that Georgia will turn permanently blue. It’s no longer a battle of ideologies. It’s a battle of demographics.

Yes, and it's going on all over the country. They are seeding red and purple areas with invaders who are sure to vote 'RAT.

Don’t forget massive debt - of all kinds, in our printed, unbacked, Federal Reserve Currency

It makes gullible voters believe that yes, they government can buy them unicorns, and someone else will pay for it.

Recently took the family to visit Savannah. Gosh, it was beautiful and we loved it, but it was filled with moonbattery. Sorry, but liberal destroy everything they touch. They take things that are beautiful and pervert it thereby removing the intrinsic beauty with their staining.

Just as all the liberals abandon and flee the liberal wasteland cities they come from and helped establish, only to begin their destruction in the next place they move to.
