Maybe the Coyotes we have here in Northern Minnesota are wimps. Every time I see one it is running away as fast as possible. (Perhaps they are on to me) :)

Coyotes are very smart predators. Here in Oregon; yes I live behind enemy lines, a single coyote lures a dog to follow to the pack, then they attack and kill the dog. They also run through neighborhoods and kill cats. It’s wild! Literally.

Packs act different than individuals. And Northern Minnesota coyotes probably still see humans as predators. Californians probably try to be friends with coyotes.

Dangerous coyote encounters are usually in situations where people have been feeding coyotes, or people attempting to aid pets endangered by coyotes.
