I have never bragged about not watching TV, we have it here at home so the wife can watch an occasional show or movie. I personally have no interest in watching it.
Networks don’t have license to transmit band music.
You are right. Just about everything on TV now is garbage. I would say trash but garbage is more accurate. In fact garbage might be too nice.

I stopped watching propaganda TV over 7 years ago. I get my news from Drudge and Free republic. I find Fox News barely trustworthy.
You Tube has excellent videos on history and interesting topics. Because I like college football, I do watch a little football. I never watch a full game as I consider it a waste of time. I do enjoy the extra time to read or something active. I am glad I am not chained to the television.

When I woke up the next day after brain surgery, flying through the clouds on a morphine high, I thought I’d give the insipid morning shows a try. I figured they were made for people with their brains scrambled, right? So I sat / lay through 3 hours of them. Nope. They were ridiculously superficial and too dumb even for someone on morphine.

Switched off the TV and have never missed it.
I had a belly full of what the media had been doing to him. Also, it was insulting the media thought I bought a single word of their propaganda.
The only difference today, is they’re in the open about what they’re really about (whether they realize it or not).

I have a computer but I loathe the messaging and advertising on most websites. This is what makes reading news snd discussion on FR so great.
Type msn.com and tell me what the top 20 news stories are (and that is a search engine).
Type yahoo.com and tell me what the top 20 news stories are (again it is a search engine). At least google.com doesn’t hit you with a dozen democrat daily talking points just for visiting their page (you have to gonto news.google.com for that).
And then there is the pushed ‘trends’ (all from one political viewpoint) on fakebook...
So I may compute but that doesn’t mean I have to spend time daily with the MSM.
Tune in and you’ll be misinformed. Guaranteed.

Why don’t the networks show the cheerleaders anymore?
My life is so calm and serene because of that decision I made 12 years ago. I still selectively watch movies and full seasons of shows but I get to choose what is watched and when. I never have to be subjected to commercials or psa's and I have full control of how my free time is spent because I am not revolving my life around a TV schedule.
Just thinking of how many years of most people's lives get wasted on watching garbage they did not want or ask for makes me shudder!
