Doug Glanville was the first-round Draft pick of the Cubs in 1991 and went on to have a nine-year Major League career that included stints with the Phillies, Rangers and Cubs. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with an engineering degree. Since retiring, he's worked for ESPN and written for a variety of prestigious publications.
Beginning next month, he'll be teaching a class on "Communication, Sports and Social Justice" at Penn's Annenberg School for Communication.
Glanville, who is African-American, developed the concept for the course guided by his own experiences with racial profiling.
Four years ago, he was shoveling snow from the driveway of his Hartford, Conn., home. A passing policeman stopped. "So, are you trying to make a few extra bucks, shoveling people's driveways around here?" he asked.
Two years later, while on assignment as an analyst with ESPN, Glanville and a white colleague landed late one night at Los Angeles International Airport. His co-worker jumped into a cab. When Glanville got to the front of the line, he was told: "Take the bus. It's $19."
Oh great, we get to hear more stories of victimhood.

So, without any academic preparation, he’ll become a Professor of Whining at a top university. Life is tough.

Any stories of white people who paid most of his salary, idolized him as a pro Arlene, etc. if I were to judges othe races with negative issues I would be labeled as a racist. Just like this just race hustler. Victim hood is a perfect name. I’m sure he doesn’t live there now.

Sounds like he has worked hard throughout his life, MLB career, engineering degree, shovels his own snow only to have a public servant question his occupation and motivation.
#13. Sounds more like the cop was joking (if the event happened that way). The police would know that he was a famous baseball player and just kid with him. They’d also be on the look out for robbers targeting his house.
But then again, Hartford isn’t what it used to be when I had relatives there.
With all the hate crime hoaxes we’re seen and heard in the last few years, there’s no reason to believe that what he’s claiming actually happened.
Sounds like a class where he’s going to stand in front of a bunch of victimhood mentality snowflakes and whine about how oppressed he’s been and get a lot of attention and sympathy for it.
