Actually, we recently found that if I both ignore the government food recommendations (ie eat a high fat diet, avoid many vegetables) and cut back, I seem to lose weight.
They used to say don’t eat butter, eat margarine. Now it turns out that margarine is worse, and butter not that bad after all. When can you trust the health experts when they don’t seem to know themselves?

no question about it. high-fat, low carb is pretty much the only diet that actually works for losing weight. fat satiates and kills the appetite, while carbs induce a roller-coaster of rising and falling blood sugar that keep the appetite rolling as well.
