Not to nitpick, but I don’t think President Trump has the power or right to declare what city is the capital of Israel—that’s up to Israel (and God). What the President is rumored to be getting ready to do, is declare that the US recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which in MHO we should have done long ago.

Exactly. Politico is deliberately slanting the narrative using "declare", rather than the correct term.
