Tony Snow... he was the perfect poster boy for Bushism. Amnesty, mass immigration, minority preferences, globalism over economic nationalism, nation building... it was all there if anyone was paying attention. I don’t think many were at the time. Snow just presented it in a polite way, unlike so many of the vitriolic Bush alumni we hear now trashing the xenophobes, nativists, racists, etc of the Trump rebellion.

Yep. Today, “dating” means pretty much the assumption of an ongoing sexual relationship. It meant nothing of the sort 40 years ago, especially in the South. Dating was structured socializing, with involvement of parents, families and institutions. “Chaperones” were ubiquitous in this system, to keep them honest.
