End the 17th Amendment, and take away power from Washington DC
The new class of United States Senators like John McCain, the ones taking on the Swamp in the Republican Party, want to put an end to the Third House, the special interests, the K and J Street lobbies which put their individual, perverse interests at the direct expense of the American citizenry.
As a reminder, here is the text of the 17th Amendment:
McCain could take a knee and pledge allegiance to Mao and the voters of AZ would still vote for his sorry ass.
I am doubtful that repealing the 17th Amendment would have kept McCain out of the Senate. I am certain that if state legislatures picked Senators in 1980 that the Reagan tax cuts would have never passed.
Oppose the 17th Amendment on principle, if you like, but don’t assume that the end result would be better Senators. More likely, you’d get more go along to get along types.
Roy Moore is proof positive that it has its purposes. Without the 17th Amendment is there any doubt that Luther Strange would continue to be the senator from Alabama?
Article V.
The 17th A has to go!
I don’t trust politicians enough to let them choose other politicians for me.
REPEAL and put forever in the trash.
McCornhole is proof positive that we need treason trials and hangings on the national mall.
Or, that government officials should get the same level of medical care as the rest of us.
Pure idiocy. Establishment Deep Staters would benefit from elitist state legislators choosing our Senators. McQueeg and Flake, et al, would be safe.
REALLY stupid idea: repealing the 17th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Are some people thinking with the wrong parts of their body or what?
Enact term limits. Any state could do this internally.
That’s no panacea, though. California has legislative term limits, and it only worked for the first year or so in electing Republicans to succeed corrupt and antiquated Democrats, only for the Dems to reclaim the entire body in 1996, and it has grown ever more corrupt, statist and moonbat since to 3rd World/Feudal state proportions.
Also, no state can impose term limits on federal officials. That would require a Constitutional Amendment.
I stand corrected.
“In May 1995, the United States Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in U.S. Term Limits, Inc. v. Thornton, that states cannot impose term limits upon their U.S. Representatives or U.S. Senators.
Currently, term limits at the federal level are restricted to the executive branch and some agencies. The U.S. Congress, however, remains without electoral limits.” ballotpedia.com
85 and dying. Yet such unfettered malice. Defies logic.
