The A-10 Warthog have served the military a long time by providing close air support for our ground troops with great precisions. The following wild video highlights this attributes against a group of Talibans.
This video shows you the awesome power of its 30mm GAU-8/A Avenger is a hydraulically driven seven-barrel Gatling-type auto cannon weapon system. This gun can accurately place more than 60 rounds of 30 mm ammunition on target per second. This all happens asynchronously from nearly a mile in the air. Check out the A-10 destroy Taliban video here.
A 200mph airborne tank with a perfect line of sight and fire. The sight and sound of an A10 should terrify anything in it’s radius of operation. Best close support killing machine ever.
I recall the Fraud did his best to kill the A-10 for his terrorist BFF’s.

Anyone who has been in the USAF knows what a pain ITA a Warthog is (we still love it and it’s durability.. get half of the tail blown off.. but it can still land [First Gulf War])..
Anyone who is on the ground that is saved by the Warthog looks at it as a lifesaver.. and the BBBRRrr is very uplifting :D...
(I was both USAF AND US Army ;^) )
Awesome Warthogs
The A-10 has always been one of the Infantry’s best friend. I can’t for the life of me understand why the Air Force continues to try and retire it. If they are successful, they should turn it over to the Army.
As a kid, I and a couple friend got to visit a live fire air range and stand in the tower while A-10s pilots practiced their skills. It is an experienced seared in my memory. The sights and sounds of those jets rolling in at tree top level, the fire and smoke pouring from the mouth, followed by a loud whine and then the echo growling back from the terrain just as a large round target downrange erupts in a cloud of dust....
It has, ever since, been my favorite weapon in the military arsenal. We were able to visit the field and collect spent brass in the field. Those are large shell casings and I still have a couple somewhere.
Killing the A-10 is the Swamp being the Swamp. They want to fund a high-dollar replacement, even if the new aircraft has less capability. There are campaign donations and post-Congress jobs waiting for those who push to kill that plane. The only down side is more dead American soldiers, and the democrats and RINOs don't care much about that.
Those Air Farce metrosexuals demand that their planes be PRETTY!
Which is one of the multitude of reasons I demand that all political donations be ANONYMOUS. You can't sell influence if you don't know who is buying. That step, along with TERM LIMITS would go a long way towards correcting the corruption in the swamp.
I love movies with a happy ending!........................
I do too. Warms the cockles of the heart.
They really should Give the A10 to the army with the stipulation that the Army pilots go through the Air Force Academy so that the two services can still effectively coordinate and share tactics.
“Those Air Farce metrosexuals demand that their planes be PRETTY!”
I agree. A tool’s ultimate value is how well it accomplishes the job. The A-10 is beautiful in that respect. Also, in war ugly is terrifying to the enemy as t just screams “built to kill.”
I agree with you. I think the A-10 is one of the coolest airplanes flying. It just looks like an unadorned beast. Form follows function. And it fulfills its function very well.
And to think that it almost didn't happen. USAF brass didn't want to waste money on something that wasn't fast and manouverable. It had to be rammed down their throats.
Who needs a fence when you have one of those?.
Senator Senile-POW, I heard your reelection campaign is getting an anonymous bundled donation of $200k tomorrow. Congratulations! But what I wanted to talk with you about is the A-10 replacement. What the Air Force really needs is a high-tech aircraft for that air-to-mud mission, and many of the parts in this proposal would come from your home state of Arizona . . .

That it is still an AF platform, and not an Army/Marine Corp. platform is the most idiotic miscarriage of program management ever.
It’s also the easiest thing to fix.
We’ve been taking programs away from the AF for years. The one program worth protecting and they want to kill it.
The solution is easy - take that away too.
