Walk into court in a jail jumper, plead guilty to a lie, walk out the door and laugh.
That’s where the Leticia Astacio clown circus took us yesterday, as all of a sudden it’s not just about #drunkjudge, it’s about a system that might be as effed up as she says it is.
She is a Rochester City Court judge who, caught driving drunk one morning on the way in to do arraignments, has been in and out of jail and she has taken a simple misdemeanor and turned it into the most exasperating local story in years. She hasn’t shown up to work in months – and her misconduct has forever banned her from chambers – but she’s still drawing $174,000 a year in taxpayer-funded salary.
All while telling the most outlandish lies and pretending she is the victim.

Lonsbeery is right....she’ll probably end up a mayor of Rochester after the current occupant (re-elected) moves on to replace Louise Slaughter when she croaks.
This pig has played the victim card, the race card, and the sexist card while she has literally flouted the law. Were I, a middle aged white male to have tried this, I would be sitting in a medium security prison this very moment with another 5 years to go on my sentence (of which I would do ever nanosecond of it).
I could forget about ever driving a vehicle again if I lived long enough to time out.
A white male republican judge would have been stripped of his title and salary months ago.
June 2, 2017 - “The warrant was issued earlier this week after Astacio missed a court date. Her attorney said he was told that Astacio is in Thailand. In a text, Astacio asked her lawyer to tell the media that she was “living in a temple in the mountains with monks.”
