When Jeanne Assam's Gun Stopped a Church Massacre
American Thinker ^ | 11/7/17 | Daniel John Sobieski

Once again, the cries for gun control measures that wouldn’t have stopped the shooter are being heard. Yet once again, it was a good guy with a gun that in this case pursued the killer in a chase that resulted in death, preventing further deaths and saving lives. Once again, we hear cries that the good guy with the gun should be disarmed.

If a good guy with a gun had been inside the First Baptist Church, the killer could have been blown away and we might not be having this conversation. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton pointed out what should be obvious -- that we don’t need more unarmed potential victims sitting like sheep, targets in what amounts to a gun-free zone:

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) indicated during an interview with Fox News’s Brian Kilmeade that the response to the Texas church shooting should be more armed law-abiding citizens rather than more gun control.

Paxton pointed out that there were numerous laws already on the books, including “laws against murder,” and the attacker violated those laws without hesitation. He observed, “So adding some other gun law, I don’t think would in any way change this guy’s behavior.”

He added:

It’s not clear to me that [the attacker] wasn’t already prevented from having a gun, given his history in the military. What ultimately may have saved some lives is… people that were outside the church that actually had guns that may have slowed this guy down and actually pursued him. So I would rather arm law-abiding citizens and make sure that they can prevent this from happening as opposed to trying to pass laws that would prevent law-abiding citizens from having guns.

The narrative is changing quickly and it will not favor the gun grabbers.

But the interview I posted just above brings crystal clarity to it. “They” will be forced to call him a liar.

The armed citizen is the first responder.

I keep thinking why would this guys felonious record not be reported to the authorities and why wouldn’t these show up on his NICS background check??? Then it dawned on me, most if not all questions on a 4473 if answered yes would most likely prohibit you from owning a gun but also prohibit you from voting!!! So, are these felonies not being reported in order to keep voter rolls bolstered with Democrat voters??? Just thinking out loud here.

Because the paperwork is still sitting in some government clerk's "HOLD" basket waiting to be processed.

Harvey Weinstein is in favor of gun control, GEE I wonder why? Funny how it works that way. Politicians and other public figures who advocate for gun control tend to have serious ethical and legal issues of their own. And it’s the same as it ever was. One the one of the first gun control laws, the 1911 Sullivan Laws in NY. What the gun grabbers don’t tell you is WHO those laws are named for. Bug Tim Sullivan, a Tammany Hall kingpin even more corrupt than the Clintons. He wanted to make the streets of NYC safer, for him and his cronies as well as the muggers and gangsters in his back pocket. How about fmr Cong Leeland Yee, he introduced legislation that would’ve effectively nullified the 2A. He was forced to resign because he’s in federal prison for GUN RUNNING. Speaking of pervs, remember Bernie Ward, the hoplophoboc left wing talk show host? He was gonna put Limbaugh and Hannity in their place. Where’s the loudmouth liberal now? Spending the rest of his life as a registered sex offender after doing time for kiddie porn. Soon to be ex Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, a charter member of everytown for gun safety and friend of Shannon Watts, of Moms Demand Action (kinda sounds like a granny porn site, doesn’t it?) He’s under investigation for diddling his 8-yr- old cousin. Then there’s the gun violence death clock put up near Times Sq. in 1990. The funding that project came from Robert Brennan, a junk bond dealing scam artist who makes Bernie Madoff look like Mother Theresa. I’m sure he had a pragmatic reason for performing this “public service”. Hey, if I scammed all those old folks out of their life savings I too would be scared out of my wits if they, their kids or grandkids had easy access to firearms. Just sayin’

The Air Force screwed up. They were supposed to put him in a database after his court martial and conviction of domestic abuse.

“They forgot.”

I remember this happening but couldn't place any of the names in the article.

Guns in churches seem like some sort of grotesque oxymoron but in the right hands a firearm can be the ultimate peacemaker. Many were thankful that day in 2007 that Jeanne Assam, a volunteer security guard at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, had easy access to a gun when Matthew Murray entered the east entrance of the church and began firing his rifle. Murray was carrying two handguns, an assault rifle, and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

Ever since Cain slew Abel, there has been evil in the world and a desire among some to kill others. Disarming the law-abiding to prevent such killings is like trying to fight drunk driving by making it harder for sober drivers to get driver’s licenses. We don’t need more gun-free zones populated with unarmed targets. We do need more people able to defend themselves.

Well said.....

Thank God for Stephen Willeford and the example he is and the testimony he is and the proof he is that the gun grabbers are all wrong about armed citizens.

Aside from the shooting itself, EVERYTHING else happened just right. There is nothing to criticize either Willebrand or LE for.
