Papa Johns CEO Says Kneeling NFL Players, Not His Horrible Pizza, Are Causing His Sales To Drop
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s Ring Of Fire ^ | November 2, 2017 | Farron Cousins

Posted on 11/03/2017 2:07:08 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

John Schnatter, the CEO of Papa Johns who appears in nearly all of his chain’s TV commercials, is blaming a massive drop in his company’s revenue on kneeling NFL players. Papa Johns is a big sponsor of the NFL, but it seems highly unlikely that a few men protesting police brutality could torpedo an entire pizza chain. Perhaps “Papa John” should look at his business practices before blaming others, as Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains.

You may not know the name John Schnatter, but you probably do know him as Papa John, the CEO of Papa John’s Pizza. And earlier this week on a call with shareholders, he made it clear as to why his company is losing so much money in the United States. According to Papa John himself the reason his company is tanking right now is because of those pesky NFL football players who are kneeling during the national anthem.

That’s right. That is the official reason that Papa John Schnatter himself gave as to why nobody in this country wants to buy his pizza as much as they did a year ago. Well, here’s some unfortunate facts for Papa John that I think he needs to realize: His sales are down 24% over where they were one year ago. NFL viewership has declined 5% as to where it was a year ago. So those numbers really don’t correlate to one another. That doesn’t make up for your entire loss. Papa John is obviously, as anybody who has ever watched an NFL game understands, one of the largest advertisers for the National Football League.

He appears mostly in his own commercials usually with Peyton Manning by his side. Recently, he’s turned to Eli Manning but overall the guy likes to advertise his pizza. He likes to be seen in his advertisements. He wants people to know who he is. He wants to be the famous pizza guy. Well, nobody cares because we don’t care about you. We care about the fact of whether or not you’re selling a good product and more importantly, and I think this is why your sales are going down, they care if you yourself are a good person. You see, Papa John donated to the campaign of Donald Trump.

There’s a big story last year where he began cutting the hours of his workers so that he didn’t have to pay them health insurance and he was found guilty of wage theft and refusing to pay overtime to his employees. Sounds like the actions of a guy that’s less of a good hearted pizza man and more just a general piece of $#^+, which is what Papa John’s is and that’s essentially what they’re selling to the American public.

It’s not about NFL players protesting police brutality. It’s about you being a horrible human being and treating your employees like crap. You think you can boss around these NFL players just because they’re black? No, that’s not how it works. Didn’t work out too well for the Houston Texans last week either did it? But you go ahead and blame others for your own misfortunes, for your own failures in life, just like a responsible conservative would do. Aren’t you supposed to be the party of personal responsibility? No? I guess not when you can easily blame your own failures on a group of black people.

The left STILL doesn’t understand why DJT won.

And they STILL don’t understand why Americans are starting to actually HATE the NFL and anything associated with it.

++++

It’s not about NFL players protesting police brutality.

A company who’s entire existence seems to be based upon the notion that the founder is a “great guy”. Don’t care for the pizza and never have.

Pizza was bound to be hit hard when the marketing plan depends on impulse response to an ad during a game.

I’m not a pizza connoisseur or anything, but among the major pizza chains in my area, I like Papa John’s Pizza more than Pizza Hut, Domino’s Pizza and Little Caesars.

Don’t care for the pizza and never have.

We moved to Spain in early 2016 and I wish there was a pizza as good as Papa John's in our area. Here the pizzas are wafer thin, about 1/3 the size of a PJ pizza and people eat them with a knife and fork. Believe it or not, some nimrod wrote an article about European food franchises that should come to America and he actually mentioned a pizza chain called Telly's. Not even the locals like their pizza and it would be laughed out of the USA.

The issue isn't whether the pizza is good or not. Until this year, people ate it. Something changed. If other advertisers that used to benefit from NFL advertising no longer do so, it's because former NFL fans understand the power of boycotting any advertiser when there's an alternative.

I wonder what's going to happen with the sale of NFL merchandise over the holiday season.

I like to get Papa John’s pizza for a change up once in a while and I like the pepperoncini peppers they include with the pizza and also the butter and garlic for dipping the pizza.

The NFL never mentions all the black lives cops save do they. 15 million arrests a year and I can count maybe two where a shooting was unjustified and one of those cops just pled guilty last May, so WTF is the NFL protesting? They have NO idea what the F is going on especially that fake black dude Colon Kaepernjerk who is doing all this is solely to up his cred in the black community.

after the splendid World Series that MLB just produced, it really makes the NFL look like a train wreck.I know that i myself really hate that league now, after watching the Astros and Dodgers for 7 amazing games...really, the entire playoffs were just great. Just wish they would start the games an hour earlier, my only complaint.

They disrespected the flag. They can parse that any way they want to but they disrespected the flag

They cannot do that without consequences. Not if they don’t stop it and also apologize.

Ah, the Hillary Clinton explanation Its not my fault it is everyone else!
Of course the moronic social justice warriors are at fault. People advertised on NFL games because it was good business. They paid high rates to do so. That was when TV ratings for the NFL games were good. Now they have dropped. Business 101. It will effect the companies that advertise sales.
