Take a look at the ideal Glocks for concealed carry and personal defense.

These are some of the most prestigious and popular self- and home defense weapons made by one of the world’s leaders in master weapon engineering and production, Glock.

Glock has been one of the leaders in self-defense and tactical weapons for years with their top notch designs and perfection in the art of producing some of the world’s leading firearms. So the question remains, are you carrying the right weapon for your protection?

Where does a person draw the line that tells them that they are well protected by the weapon they have chosen to keep themselves and their families safe?

Glock 30S

With a standard magazine load of ten rounds, this compact pistol packs a heavy punch firing a deadly .45 caliber rounds with maximum knockdown power and effectiveness.

Glock 19 Gen4

The new recoil spring assembly offered with this weapon makes the system able to last longer in the most trying conditions, ultimately adding a longer lifespan to the spring assembly.

Glock 23
Firing a standard .40 caliber round and having a fully loaded magazine at a whopping 13 rounds, this little piece of defense is what many would consider perfect for the concealed self-defense weapon category. See the rest and full description of the top 5 Glocks for personal defense here.

You just had to go there. The 1911A1 is really old technology. I was a company armorer in the Army and worked on them a bit. They have quirks and to get one to shoot accurately for competition takes a lot of skill.

They are the handgun version of the M-14 When they work they work very well. When they get some wear on them, they lose accuracy, and need to be rebuilt by someone that’s very knowledgeable, expensive, and has a waiting list.

You can buy an M-14, shoot it cross the course for 2 seasons, then have it rebarrelled, gas piston and cylinder reworked, and op-rod checked. Or you can buy an AR-10 and rebarrel it in your garage every 2000 rounds.

You can buy a 1911A1 from someone like Wilson Combat for $1000 or you can buy a M&P and throw an Apex trigger in it for $600.

To each their own, there’s a cult of the 1911 just like there’s a cult of Glock, and a cult of H und K (you’re not worthy unless you’re an operator).

I’m not aware of a cult of M&P yet but if you see one let me know so I can join.

All that being said, the 1911A1 was absolutely groundbreaking when it came out and was the premier pistol in the world for nearly all the 20th century.

My son says a .380 is OK for 15 feet on in and don’t ever consider using the sights.

Never carry any Glock without a holster!

Why did they single out the 36 for a mag release that may be problematic without a holster?

No, Glocks are for those who can’t afford a Sig.

The Glock 19 is particularly effective in home defense. The clip holds 15 rounds and the 9MM has wonderful stopping power. I recommend using the Glock to allow you to get time to get to a 12 gauge shot gun with the plug removed using an open choke as possible and #4 3 inch mags shells at which point that fight is over. Understand that the objective is to stop one or more home invaders and you are only as safe as the closest loaded fire arm. It does no good to have one in the bed stand if you are in the kitchen . I recommend at least 3 pistols ( no .22s) at points in the house that you use during the day and night. For example, bedroom, kitchen and living room. I know several professionals that do this and they will put one on top of the refrigerator ( pushed back where you can’t see it unless you are 6’6” ). Using a Glock ,I do not chamber the shell until use. It has no safety.

MARSOC recently chose the GLOCK 19 over all other pistols. Methinks they know something about war fighting.

Glocks are really great pistols. So are the XD’s and M&P’s. I prefer my M&P because of the external safety.

I shot a Glock 19 once and did extremely well with it.

I don’t shoot one, too heavy but that was told to me by a 1911 fan as a joke. Glock fans take things too seriously.

people that don’t like Glocks are usually afraid of them because they don’t have an external safety....they are a no nonsense weapon that revolutionized firearms. Nothing beats a Glock at reliability and trigger reset. I’ll never own anything else.

What’s the trigger rest length compared to say a .40Smith?

Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet. May all your foes be small caliber men.

I like 1911s. The first gun I ever bought was a Colt Commander. I still have it 25 years later. It's beautiful and well designed and fits the hand well. But the Glock is just a better combat pistol for many reasons. That being said, I'm thinking I want a new 1911.

My department just replaced the issue .40 M&P (pos) with the Sig 320. Now they are sending the Sigs back for ones that won’t fire when dropped. I have carried the same Glock 17 that I used in the police academy 10 years ago. Best LEO duty handgun ever.

I just purchased a SCCY (pronounced SKY)in 9mm. Sccy is a new company located in Florida.
The SCCY CPX-2 9MM ... Magazine: Includes (2) double stack, 10 round capacity magazines with finger extension base installed.
I have big hands and the Glock 43 just rolled around in the firing grasp.
Too bad it fell off the boat the next day

“”No, Glocks are for those who can’t afford a Sig.””

Had to laugh a little. I’m definitely a SIG fan but when it comes to Glocks I have to say they’re a damn fine duty pistol known for both reliability and ruggedness. The downfall is they’re plastic and will I not know nor will I ever own a plastic pistol.

That is what I was thinking while reading this article. The G-26, G-27, G-42, G-43 are far easier to conceal and carry than the G-30 or G-22. Although I do believe the G-19 or G-23 should be considered for carry along with the G-36.

Nonsense. I easily have $25,000 worth of guns sitting here in my boat. I can afford anything I want. Sigs are nice but I prefer Glocks because they can be tossed out of an airplane and they still work. They can also be buried in the ground for 2 years and they still work. I have never seen any of this even attempted with a Sig. Maybe I just didn't look hard enough for it. Glock pistols are also supported by an immense aftermarket part industry which makes modifying them super easy and relatively inexpensive. I (as in me myself) easily converted ONE of my Glock 21s to 460 Rowland for example. I converted another one of my Glock 21s to a suppressor host weapon just by dropping in a KKM threaded barrel. Too easy. It also removes the bullseye without much effort btw. Glocks are also nice because you can buy one holster and have numerous Glock pistols fit it. My Aker flatsider, for example, will fit a Glock 20, 29, 21, 30, 40 and a 41 and probably others. I'm pretty sure costing less while doing the same or better is also a good thing btw.
