CareSource is opening new call center near Indianapolis where it will hire 150.
The growing Dayton-based insurer is holding a ribbon cutting Monday for the call center, which will provide customer service for members with Medicaid or Affordable Care Act plans.
A spokeswoman said the call center is still hiring but will employ about 150 workers.
CareSource has more than 1.8 million members in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia and Georgia.
It is also one of two insurers that will be selling insurance on the health exchanges created by the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
CareSource anchors downtown Dayton with about 2,000 employees, making it one of the largest employers in the city.
I got a call from somebody named Jaaassssuun. I presume it was Jason. He had a heavy Indian accent, so bad I couldn’t make out most of his words. Since I have had my identity stolen during the incompetent Equifax disaster I am paying attention to every letter and call. I have received letters from Bloomingdales and Chase about their denial of my credit, which I locked down. I have gotten calls from credit companies trying to verify information. So, I am trying to understand this man. Finally, I asked who he worked for and he said Blue Cross. I said I didn’t have an account with them and hung up. The point is, it’s sometimes nearly impossible to understand non-native speakers. Some of my experiences with Indian call centers has been okay, even good. But putting them here would make it better.
The job postings you do are great...makes one optimistic.
