At the Cardinals’ last game of the season, a player came out about 45 minutes before the first pitch, stood at attention with his hand over his heart. Other players came out to put an umbrella over him, put a police officer’s vest on him. He didn’t move until the first pitch. When the Milwaukee club saw what was going on, they sent one of theirs out as well. Of course the whole thing did not make the news.

Cardinals fan here. I looked this up online and learned something new about baseball. Apparently it is not that unusual for players to stand after the national anthem is done and try to face off against opposing players. Not sure how starting 45 minutes before game time factors in, but it may not have been related to the protests at all.

Apparently this tradition happens a lot more in the minors.

This was long before the national anthem. We were puzzled about it. They did show the player (I don’t know who he was) on the big screen and it all had the appearance of something that wasn’t expected. Don’t know if it was related to the protests or not.
