If you get into an actual gun fight, the chances are good that the bad guy will have a high capacity 9mm. The chances are also good that there will be more than one bad guy. So, if you have a 5 or 6 shot revolver, and you find yourself in a real gunfight, there's a good chance you will immediately be at a disadvantage and you'll be wishing you had brought more gun.

The good news is, you probably won't end up in an actual gun fight and a 5 or 6 shot snub nosed revolver will be perfectly adequate for going to the grocery store or running your errands. probably.

But I still find 10-15 rounds much more comforting than 5 or 6. because I squared off with 3 guys one day and know what it feels like to have not brought enough gun.

I would wager one of my returning .357 revolver rounds would pack more conniving power than 5 or 6 9mm or 380s bouncing around the chip isle. I dont pray and spray. I acquire my target, squeeeeeze the trigger.

Absolutely no drama allowed when I’m grocery shopping!

There are very many stories of cops being saved, or at least having advantage in gun fights because the crook didn’t know how to operate his semi-auto. Not many crooks steal a gun and then go to the range.

The problem with semi-autos is, shooting and hitting a target is only half of your training. Before you can depend on a semi-auto for protection, you have to learn a malfunction drill and perform it enough times it is second nature. Somewhere around 1500 times. Then you have to reinforce that training with regular training. Also, if you carry your gun with the safety on, do you activate the safety every time you shoot it? When you are scared, you will resort to the action you take most often, point and pull the trigger.

When you are defending your life, you aren’t going to have time to examine why the gun didn’t fire. With a revolver, if it goes “click” you pull the trigger again. If it goes click again, you reload it.

But in the real world, under the yellow sun, criminals don’t stand and fight like a band of spetznaz frogmen. Want to scatter a crowd of 15 people moving in on you? Fire a shot into just one of them. These aren’t Comanche warriors waiting for you to run dry so they can attack.

Decades of detectives managed to do pretty well with a snub and a speed strip in the pocket. The need for 15 is imagined.

I agree, and I have and carry both in varying situations. Regardless, I usually have at least 1 spare mag or speed loader with me for what I am carrying at the time. Any gun is better than no gun, and I can handle both well enough to make myself known if need be.

I'll avoid any situation if I can. Regardless, if I have to go, I have to go. I just want to be able to give the best fight I can and take as many down with me as possible...
