SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — The mayor of Dr. Seuss' hometown fired back at a school librarian on Thursday who called the children's author's books "racist" and "cliche" in rejecting a donation of them from Melania Trump.
The comments of Cambridge Public Schools librarian Liz Phipps Soeiro were "political correctness at its worst," Springfield, Massachusetts, Mayor Domenic Sarno said in a statement.
"One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish, I think her comments stink and are ridiculous towards our beloved Dr. Seuss," he said.
Dr. Seuss, whose real name is Theodor Geisel, was born and raised in Springfield.....

Maybe that person’s salary needs to cut.

Well, pfathinatin. I have been reading, of late, Thoreau’s work, A WEEK ON THE CONCORD AND MERRIMACK RIVERS, which he actually put to pen at Walden Pond, and is a companion piece to his more famous WALDEN work.
Well, early on he waxes poetical, not to say fantastical, about fish, observing for example,
“Think how in winter you can sink a line down straight in a pasture through snow and through ice, and pull up a bright, slippery, dumb, subterranean silver or golden fish!”
This put me in mind immediately of McElligot’s Pool, and if you read the paragraphs, I don’t know how you would disagree.
... so is Thoreau as well, who is a virtual Saint of the Left, about to be thrown overboard? I wouldn’t doubt it, if he hasn’t been already! ... which I wouldn’t doubt either.
