Rev. Jesse Jackson said President Trumps criticism of NFL players kneeling during the national anthem were an example of the slave-master-servant mentality" in a interview with The New York Times.
They should all kneel, not against the flag, but against the interference by Mr. Trump with their First Amendment rights, Jackson said.
If the cotton pickers dont pick cotton, the industry doesnt move; the N.F.L. and N.B.A. players dont play the game, it doesnt move.
Jacksons comments follow Trumps weekend criticism of NFL players who choose to kneel during The Star-Spangled Banner," a protest started by quarterback Colin Kaepernick as a statement against racial injustice.
"Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now,' " Trump said at a Friday night rally in Alabama. " 'He is fired.' "
The remarks from Trump led to widespread protests at NFL games across the county on Sunday, as well as criticism from athletes in multiple professional sports leagues.
The president doubled down on his position, saying those who do not stand for the anthem are disrespecting the United States.
In comments to reporters on Sunday, Trump insisted his criticism of the NFL players is not about race.
This has nothing to do with race. I never said anything about race. This has nothing to do with race or anything else. This has to do with respect for our country and respect for our flag, Trump said.
NFL players have the right to protest. If they do it on the NFL's time (such as kneeling in uniform during the national anthem), the NFL has a right (and according to their own rules, a duty) to punish them. If you believe that the players and the NFL should be protected against those who find their actions offensive, you need to rethink your priorities. Speech may be free for the giving, but it can never be free of the consequences.
If I told any one or all of my FaceBook friends I hated them, I would lose those friends. I am free to make such a pronouncement, but I should not be shocked or dismayed that they react to my statement.
The NFL depends on discretionary spending. For them now to be insulted because President Trump pointed out what they are doing is insulting to many Americans is stupid, abhorrent, and just another reason to stop spending a dime on their support. I choose to exercise my discretion in spending and TV watching to eliminate any NFL related activity.<.I>
Well he ought to know, he is one of the largest slave owners in the country.
“America, as presently constituted, cannot survive the open promotion of race war. And she wont.”
I agree. Further, igniting race division was always a target of the enemies of the US, both foreign and domestic. Thinking about it, it might not be by accident that commensurate with the great strides in race relations we made as a nation, and just after we elect a black President, we have a regression in race relations. The left was losing this wedge issue, and had to rekindle it. Ugliness.
Shouldnt have given him that Rainbow Coalition award.
What were those?
In the times of Slavery, any slave not doing what the owner ordered, was whipped or lynched. I didn’t hear President Trump, suggest either option.
There have been player strikes, and owner lock outs, in the past. Now is the time for a Viewer Walkout. The entertainment value of NFL, has been replaced by political statements. The NFL has shown NO respect for the fans or viewers, NO THANK YOU NFL. WE DON’T OWE YOU ANYTHING.
Good ol’ Jesse, always trying to get in front of a parade.
Good question; we’ve slid backwards. Now our cities are filled with wannabe Nat Turners...
A mind is a terrible thing to waste...
Hadn’t heard from Jesse Jackson in a rather long time. Thought he had died.
Notice Jesse has been invisible since his fawning over the Dallas Ebola family. Now, he’s baaaaack only because a bunch of low IQ over paid black ghetto thugs are acting stupidly, again.
Wishful thinking.
It’s Jesse who has the “slave-master-servant mentality”.
He wants his whacked-out ideas acted out by all blacks. It means money...for HIM.
He wants to snap his racist fingers, and have all blacks rise in unison to his most current “cause”, which will result in a big payout.
He has to keep up those mortgage payments in his big house in an all white neighborhood.
Screw you Jesse...we’ve had enough years of your crap, besides, sista “Maxine” is taking up where you left off.
I grew up in a mixed neighborhood, and I've seen prejudice up front and person, with the arrow pointing in all directions. I've seen race riots, with helicopters flying over our house, and have had friends get shot. I've also seen, over the years, a dramatic change in people's attitudes about each other - and there has most definitely been progress.
At the same time, however, we've also had the race baiters constantly pulling the scabs off of healing wounds - including politicians who use race for personal gain. On top of that, we've had destructive input from people, most often white, who grew up in lily white neighborhoods and have little personal experience with race, but who parade themselves as social justice warriors. They don't understand that race is a complex issue on which no sides are entirely right. They contribute to the problem in multiple ways, while thinking they are fighting racism (they're not).
Spitting fans is apparently ok, too.

SB spitting on fans
Jesse should know all about the master slave relationship. He’s been in the democrat plantation a long, long time.
Comments like this from race-pimps like JJ is what elected Trump. Keep ‘em comin’!
