Trump ‘Kneel’ Attack Gives His Base Reason To Stand
NBC News ^ | September 24, 2017 | Jonathan Allen

President Donald Trump is getting exactly what he wanted from a racially charged confrontation with professional athletes and sports team owners: A morale boost for his base and a fight with those who see the refusal to stand for the National Anthem as an appropriate form of dissent.

Trump’s fiery declaration on Friday night that National Football League owners should "fire or suspend" players who kneel during the anthem was met Saturday with fierce criticism and on Sunday with mass demonstrations of resistance on the field.

Some players knelt, while others locked arms in solidarity. Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh and Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan were among those who joined players in protests that are now nearly as much about Trump as the original desire, pushed into the spotlight by Colin Kaepernick, to highlight racial injustices in the criminal justice system....

The author is obviously a mind-reader. Shouldn't he be working for the CIA?

Bull excrement. I don't remember that being the reason Kaepernick "pushed into the spotlight."

What is “racially charged” about defending the US flag and national anthem?

The only racists in sight are the ones at NBC.

All those black players are “owned” by the NFL team “Owners”...they are literally SLAVES!!!!

They should “run-away” to Canada using the underground network of “private jets” they can charter with their vast wealth!

It is the principle of the thing, they shouldn’t be slaves anymore!

Did slaves on cotton plantations just “Take a Knee” in the cotton field, NOPE, they fled to Canada!

All these cowardly chicken necked NFL slaves need to get in their fancy jets and fly to Canada for the winter football season on the “UnderGround Airways”!

You would think the stupid players would feel outnumbered and out thought by their fans who stand for the anthem.
Clearly they haven’t thought that far.
Most probably failed civics courses on their way to athletic stardom.

Who are the good guys here? I was told that many players stood n support of the flag and anthem. I was told that many who protested and knekt today did so because they were pissed at Trump not because they support black lives matter and all that crap.

So what are we supposed to think? I heard Khan owner of the Jags stood in solidarity with the flat, others say he stood with the black lives matter players and thus he’s a traitor.

Someone can someone sort it all.out? Are players now protesting Trump instead of the original cause????

Well, we really shouldn't expect a Pakistani Muslim activist to respect the American flag or Anthem, should we?

Maybe the feds should pull him in and detain him while his paperwork is properly checked out.

Always making a racial thing of everything. If it’s racial, why are they all beyond wealthy?

The NFL is acting stupidly.

“racially charged”

If this argument was about the variety of ice cream available at the local ice cream parlor...the media would make it about race. For the media, it’s always about race....all race, all the time.

The problem? This method of attack is the quickest way to turn non-racists into racists Maybe that’s their plan.

Here's one:

The entire Pittsburgh Steelers team remained in the locker room during the national anthem, with the exception of one player: Army veteran Alejandro Villanueva, who plays offensive tackle for the Steelers.

I’ve been a season ticket holder of the Jacksonville Jaguars for over 15 years. When I say members of the team kneeling during the anthem I immediately turned off the game. I will not be renewing my season tickets unless this situation is resolved to my satisfaction. I am ashamed of my team.
