There is no substantive difference between the various branch “isms” that derive from the poisoned Marxist tree. The difference is only one of degree of brutality and state control. So communism, fascism, and socialism are really different shadings of totalitarian state oppression.

In a recent poll, 40 percent of Americans prefer communism to capitalism.

Whom did they survey, Ivy League sophomores? I really doubt the number is that high. And if it is, I totally doubt that the respondents actually understand what communism is. In the words of the immortal Ronaldus Magnus:

I have pondered many forms of governance and always came back to Americanism because of a single distinction.

Which of the many isms do you prefer?

Isms range from 0.0% government control to 100% government control.
Isms have many labels, sub-labels, and acronyms.
Isms may be constituted or not.
Isms may have organic documentation or not.

I long ago grew weary of sorting through all the variations of each and settled it with one question.

Regardless of the name, regardless of who favors it, and regardless of what it can do for me if the first obligation of that government is not to protect people’s rights then I want nothing to do with it.
