Haines, the largest floor covering distributor in the U.S., plans to open a distribution center in Concord. The new facility will serve as Haines’ southern hub and will house Haines’ entire stocking portfolio of floor covering, installation and maintenance products.

Haines’ new operation in Concord will generate $6.4 million in investment and create 172 full-time jobs.

“Haines is so pleased to establish the base for our southern operations in Concord,” Doug Drews, Haines chief supply chain officer, said. “The new location will optimize our warehouse network and enable us to provide our customers next day delivery of our full SKU assortment.”

Both the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners and Concord City Council supported and approved a one-year, performance-based tax incentive totaling $38,080 for Cabarrus County and $26,112 for the City of Concord.

“When a distribution company like Haines comes to Cabarrus, it’s a step in the right direction,” Steve Morris, chair of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, said. “The company covers a lot of ground across several major regions of the country. It’s an honor they find Cabarrus the right place to build on an established business history.”

Salaries for the 172 full-time jobs will exceed the average wage for Cabarrus County.

“It is important to recognize both Cabarrus County, the City of Concord, The Silverman Group, Avison Young and Colliers International for all their hard work to bring such a great company to this community,” Robert Carney, executive director of Cabarrus Economic Development, said. “We look forward to helping Haines continue its success here.”

Haines will operate out of a 500,000-square-foot facility located in Concord Airport Business Park –Phase III, located on Derita Road in Concord. Haines will start its operations in the first quarter of 2018.

“We are excited to have yet another company that serves millions of customers choose to invest in Concord for a new facility,” Concord Mayor Scott Padgett said. “Haines, a nationwide floor covering distributor, will invest over $6 million in their new facility at the Concord Airport Business Park. Beyond the 172 new jobs and investment, they will affect everyone in our community through the continued diversification of our economy and helping to keep property taxes low.”

In addition to the Cabarrus County and the City of Concord, other key partners in the project included the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina and the North Carolina Community College System.
