Harlan Ellison is still alive.

I still want to see Mote made into a film.
“I still want to see Mote made into a film.”
So do I. It would make an epic CGI film, with a real non-formulaic plot, and a whole slew of substantial, complex themes. And it would nonetheless be a thriller.
Ha! Yes, that would be Harlan Ellison.
It wasn’t that long ago I wandered over to chaos mannor just to see if he was still alive. RIP.
I just realized I’ve been reading him for 3 decades. That’s a real slap of reality to the face. I’m going to miss him.
I found Bill Baldwin to be shallow, but still liked his Helmsman series.
Picked it up again last year, after hearing of his death.
Couldn't believe how shallow it was.
Still an enjoyable read, though terribly shallow 30 years later.
Pournelle was great.
Think I'll pop some popcorn and break open Falkenbergs Legion.
Great science fiction, Byte magazine columns, and a practical engineer’s view of politics. Grounded in reality.
Sadly the end of Chaos Manor.
Jerry, RIP.
I loved the Janissaries Series.....was always hoping for just one or two more novels with those....
Too bad, I rather enjoyed Footfall, preposterous as it was.
I just recently picked up There Will Be War, and was looking forward to it. Now I will be reading it with a different eye.
RIP, Mr. Pournelle. Say hello to the gang for us.
Speaking of collaboration in terms of authorship, it was a completely different era when Jerry and Larry were doing it. Although Jerry was pioneering writing with PCs, their initial efforts were exchange of manuscripts and all of the ancillary editing tasks. This is/was the reason why collaborations were rare then. Now, with the PC writing tools, markup languages and instant electronic transmissions, it is much easier and fun.
R.I.P. Mr. Pournelle, you will be greatly missed! Especially the completion of the Janissary Series.
Yeah.
Aw crap...
Been following him on Chaos Manor, have several of his books. My brother was a fan of the Janisaries series.
His last comment I read was about packing for Dragon Con.
RIP...
Yup, the two together were definitely greater than the sum of their parts.
Pournelle’s son Alex posted Jerry’s death on Jerry’s website “Chaos Manor.” Jerry Pournelle’s last post was that he was back home from Dragon Con, but had a cold and the flu.
From Jerrys son Alex:
“Im afraid that Jerry passed away
We had a great time at DragonCon
He did not suffer.”

A man of vaulting imagination possessed of an unflinching regard for human nature in all of its glory and its foibles.
Sad ping
When science fiction was science fiction.
