RIP.
Used to read his columns in BYTE magazine. Great guy.
Castalia/Vox Day was his last publisher.
Bummer. I’ve been reading Jerry for close to 4 decades, thru his science fiction, user column in Byte magazine, and his daybook page, which was arguably the original blog. His first computer used for word processing is in the Smithsonian as the first single-user microcomputer used by a professional writer. He was a Cold Warrior involved in planning nuclear SIOPs in the 1960s, an assistant mayor of L.A. under Sam Yorty, and just an all-around modern Renaissance man. His commentary in the years since 9/11 has been some of the best around, as he was as well-informed by history as anyone writing today, up to and including VDH.
He will be missed.
A fyunch-click, for sure. RIP
>>One of the last of the great ones<<
Who is left from the Campbell era? Farmer? Clarke? Ellison is still kicking I am pretty sure.
Pax vobiscum.
I wonder if they got his organs in time.
RIP Jerry. I still own all your known universe books.

More to add to my “to be read” list
RIP Jerry Pournelle
Farmer and Clarke are both gone.
Harlan Ellison is still alive.
Loved his Byte magazine column and later his more political blog posts. He will be missed by many.
You idiot that was Larry Niven!
Oh that’s right. Well I still own Mote and Footfall and a whole bunch of others.
Fare the well to a great author. I’ll have to crack open a book about some Moties or some such in remembrance.
He and Niven made such a great writing team.
One of my favorites.
No, the older you get, the more and the faster your icons and your friends croak.
I found Niven alone clever but shallow; I much preferred him with Pournelle.
Lucifer's Hammer (1977)
I have loved reading Sci-Fi for 40+ years.
The Falkenbergs Legion series was one of my all time favorites.
“The Mote in God’s Eye” is one of the top 5 SciFi books I’ve read (the sequel, not so much). Also enjoyed “Lucifer’s Hammer” and “Fallen Angel” (which was a very prescient book). RIP.
