Trump has decided to end DACA, with 6-month delay (BREAKING!!!)

President Donald Trump has decided to end the Obama-era program that grants work permits to undocumented immigrants who arrived in the country as children, according to two sources familiar with his thinking. Senior White House aides huddled Sunday afternoon to discuss the rollout of a decision likely to ignite a political firestorm — and fulfill one of the president’s core campaign promises.

Trump has wrestled for months with whether to do away with the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, known as DACA. He has faced strong warnings from members of his own party not to scrap the program and struggled with his own misgivings about targeting minors for deportation.

Conversations with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who argued that Congress — rather than the executive branch — is responsible for writing immigration law, helped persuade the president to terminate the program, the two sources said, though White House aides caution that — as with everything in the Trump White House — nothing is set in stone until an official announcement has been made.

Whatever Congress passes, Trump still has to sign.

Care to rephrase this?

Now we just need to keep pressure to prevent Congress from passing amnesty in to prevent Trump from signing amnesty.

...Trump should sign a DACA amnesty bill in exchange for full funding for the border wall and anything else he can get...

Green cards with no pathway to citizenship or voting. That would take a return to the native country and at least a 10 year wait for legal entry. Also, include a firm cutoff date.
I would trade this for a big, beautiful wall with a tiny legal entry door into the USA.

I think I know the website to which you refer. A much younger, optimistic crowd (nearly 500,000 strong) with a lot of energy and they are very much pro-Trump! Many of the cranks here would get run out of there in about an hour or so. Debbie Downers not welcome! Makes me feel good about the youth of today.

Something to think about here is that Lou Barletta, a GOP House member from Pennsylvania whose political career was built on his opposition to illegal immigration, officially announced just a few days ago that he's thrown his hat in the ring to run against Democrat Bob Casey in the U.S. Senate race next year in Pennsylvania. Barletta has been serving in the House since 2010, when he beat a long-time incumbent in one of Pennsylvania's most heavily Democratic House districts.

I'm sure there are a number of similar "Deplorable" Republicans in Rust Belt states that would love to have DACA on the table as a major campaign issue during the 2018 GOP primary season.

Ha. You can get Ryan, McConnell and the fake conservatives
are praying that a judge steps in. Otherwise, the rich donor amnesty
pimps are going to force them to walk the plank and take a vote.

“6 months delay = feral gov’t thug judges overruling it.”

They’d stay it tomorrow, if the termination was immediate.

But there’s one difference - Trump will have 6 more months of judge replacements before it takes effect, so that helps a bit (assuming that the confirmation pace increases).

It shouldn’t be too hard. Those clowns couldn’t legislate out of a wet paper bag when they feel any heat. Then we have mucho vacation time between Cong sessions, and not to mention all the Teddy Kennedy happy hours to attend.

I don’t ding him that hard for this.

He’s not going to go against the will of congress if they pass it (which is a good thing as it shows respect for the law) passing it will be on head of the RINOs.

I’d have preferred a bit more 4D chess though - using this to get a repeal of Obamacare...

I stand by my prediction though - DACA legislation will pass before hurricane Harvey relief.

If true, liberal wailing will ensue.

No surprise. It didn’t make sense to start a firestorm on friday right before he left for Houston. Plus this delay gave the beltway GOP RINOs time to virtue signal to their hearts content.

They’re aliens, so the President has sole desgression in the matter.

The courts have no venue in this purely administrative process dealing with aliens.

We’re being played - the uniparty wants this and Democrats will push the legislation through and Trump will sign it.

We’re boned.

No, they won’t. That was what all the GOPe gum flapping was about the past few days. They had to show the big donors they really want DACA amended but in the end they know pushing amnesty is the third rail of GOP politics. So nothing will happen. It’s all kabuki.

Did you read the article? It says the reason is to give Congress time to pass a substitute DACA bill.

Which they never will do because amnesty outs the GOPe to the GOP base.

>> “Green cards with no pathway to citizenship...” <<

Is a constitutional fiction.

“Green Card” = Legal resident, and every legal resident can apply for citizenship.

Agree 100%. Even the six month delay is brilliant, as it neutralizes the (phony) complaints about how “mean” it would be to do away with DACA.
