Trump has decided to end DACA, with 6-month delay (BREAKING!!!)

President Donald Trump has decided to end the Obama-era program that grants work permits to undocumented immigrants who arrived in the country as children, according to two sources familiar with his thinking. Senior White House aides huddled Sunday afternoon to discuss the rollout of a decision likely to ignite a political firestorm — and fulfill one of the president’s core campaign promises.

Trump has wrestled for months with whether to do away with the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, known as DACA. He has faced strong warnings from members of his own party not to scrap the program and struggled with his own misgivings about targeting minors for deportation.

Conversations with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who argued that Congress — rather than the executive branch — is responsible for writing immigration law, helped persuade the president to terminate the program, the two sources said, though White House aides caution that — as with everything in the Trump White House — nothing is set in stone until an official announcement has been made.

You are right, this puts the ball back in congress where it always belonged. Now Ryan has to actually pass something, and when he does, it will be something Trump will also approve of. Can you spell Wall?

Trump should sign a DACA amnesty bill in exchange for full funding for the border wall and anything else he can get. Letting these 800K or maybe up to 3 million (depending on which count is accurate) anchor babies in should not be given as a gift to the UniParty.

The courts have no venue in this purely administrative process dealing with aliens.

Ya.. like that’ll stop um...

Nope. ELECTIONS. Staking out a pro-DACA position will be deadly for Trump’s enemies like Ryan, etc. This is perfect. Winning!

Trump has been president for six months, and Trump is the only one who can change that. Hence, Trump approves of DACA.

It’s the right thing to do. Congress needs to be accountable and stop shirking their responsibilities.

My two cents - deport those who are criminals, keep those who will become productive citizens.

You are right. Even though DACA is low on my priority list, it is a litmus test to determine whether Trump is an honest person.

Even better: Amnesty Ryan flapping his gums on TV and pushing amnesty will put huge pressure on our rank & file GOP reps to abandon him. The very last thing they want to be seen as supporting is amnesty. Guaranteed.

No, a 6 month delay is a brilliant maneuver by the POTUS. It gives the UniParty 6 months to unmask themselves and give Republican Primary Candidates the ammunition that they need to defeat the GOPe and UniParty incumbents.

Presuming he’ll sign a DACA amnesty bill that Congress passes

I think you presume much.

Trump won the election based upon the strength of his signature issue: ending illegal immigration in America. What makes you presume that he'll just cavalierly break his biggest promise to his voters?

Going back on his word means no second term. I can't picture him throwing away his chance to MAGA, by signing any amnesty bill.

How is it a six month delay ending it? In the next six months, some way will be found to extend it. Why not just be honest?

The #NeverTrump crowd always finds an opportunity to look a gift horse in the mouth. The glass is always half empty with their ilk...

Reagan made that same deal with the Uniparty, and they stabbed him in the back. He later said it was the biggest mistake of his presidency.

How is this a gift horse? Trump just preemptively surrendered on the whole issue.

Trump just preemptively surrendered on the whole issue.

Ending DACA with a 6 month phase-out means the President "preemptively surrendered on the whole issue"???

Is that what passes for logic with the #NeverTrump crowd?

So ending DACA—just not immediately—is tantamount to a surrender "on the whole issue".

We're so lucky to have the unbiased #NeverTrump crowd—along with the equally balanced Democrat Media—to provide such incisive, nuanced analysis...

Laughable assertion. Real “preemptive surrender” is Ted Cruz hiding under his desk while MILLIONS of his supporters were smeared as defacto Nazis post-Charlottesville.

Because he talked out of both sides of his mouth re: “Dreamers” during the campaign and even this week.

Because he’s let Jivanka fill his staff with liberal Democrats who have been looking for a way to keep it going.

Because DACA polls better than other amnesties.

And because the news reports tonight say that an official has said the 6-month wait is so Congress can act—pretty much assuring that he won’t veto their bill.
