We raised registered Saanen dairy goats for over 20 years. Our last one went 4 years ago. Lots of work. We made good use of the milk and made much of it, kefir, yogurt, all kinds of cheeses, ice cream. I was also the goat superintendent at our county fair for many years. IMO the swiss breeds are the best. Nice dispositons and easy to handle. Stay away from Nubians (loud and unmanageable). Pygmy goats the most worthless.

Good to know. Beau wants goats. I detest them. But, as usual, I’ll have to compromise. So, Swiss it is...and I’ll barter for a few fur/yarn goats, of course! ;)
