This kind of thing should be kept absolutely quiet until the time to reveal something!
That’s because nothing of substance will come of it.
I wondered why such information was being made known as well. Puts Assange in even more danger. I wondered if they put it out there intentionally to watch how the culprits respond. Maybe flush out some criminals and/or further information/evidence.
Given the number of Never Trumpers willing to the RNC to commit political suicide because they’ve lost sight of the simple fact that Trump is better than ANY Democrat, especially a POS like Clinton or an open socialist like Sanders, it may be that they have to warm the proverbial pan first so these folks don’t start jumping out and into the fires (hopefully) prepared for the DNC.
The Democrats need to be defeated, not lived with.
Moreover, they need to be defeated in such a way that they are impotent to protect their servile minions in various departments.
That or Assange is once again acting as if he’s about to pass the motherlode but is straining at a gnat.

Exactly what I was thinking. I suppose there is a remote possibilty it was meant to spook an enemy into making a mistake or what not. Or maybe he was pressed on the question by a reporter and wanted to be consistant with what he said now and what came out later.
