A Look at the Ruger LCRX .22 Cal Revolver
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 8/14/2017 | E Nestor

Are you in the market for a really lightweight .22 caliber revolver? Are you in need of a snake gun for your tackle box or coat pocket? Well, Ruger has a little revolver for you, its the Ruger LCRx revolver.

The Ruger LCRx revolver weighing under 17 ounces loaded is really a lightweight. Carrying 8 rounds and chambered in .22 long rifle cartridge this revolver would carry well. For target shooting this little revolver might be a little too light but probably not bad for just practicing with a revolver. Have a look at the Ruger LCRx Revolver video here.

I’ve got a Ruger Mark III Stainless Steel. Great gun. My 9 year old twin boys shoot it very well. They want a revolver. I’ve tried several and we find the trigger pull too much for their small hands. Don’t want to modify the gun. How is the pull on this one? Any other suggestions?

This will be a “hit” for people who don’t want to leave spent cases laying around.

Get them the Ruger Blackhawk single action. Trigger pull is light as it must be fired with the hammer cocked (thus single action). However, by having to cock each time prior to firing they will learn marksmanship and proper trigger squeeze. Besides, being it looks similar to an old Colt it has some coolness about it 😏...

...

I’ve read that the trigger pull on the .22 version of the LCR is terrible, unlike the other LCR revolvers.

If you go with a single action 22, check out the Heritage Rough Rider. It’s cheap, but still a quality gun.

I have an old (late 1940s) Mark II that is still competition quality accurate. Gas ramp keeps it dead on between shots.

Kind of hard to have a MK II from the late 40’s when they were not made until 1982

The Ruger Standard model is a firearm introduced in 1949 as the first product manufactured by Sturm, Ruger & Co., and was the founding member of a product line of .22 Long Rifle rimfire cartridge pistols.

The MK II (”Mark Two”) was made from 1982 to 2005. Previous models include the Standard, Ruger’s first model, made from 1949 to 1982

I have the Ruger 22 LCR but not sure if it is the “X” too . . . a couple of years old. My daughter & I enjoy shooting it at the indoor range in addition to our LCR’s 357 and 38. Actually the 22 and 357 are favored over the 357. And yep, usually we’re the only Mother & Daughter there . . . many Dad’s & Sons but no Mother/Daughters. So IF your twin sons aren’t quite ready for the trigger pull they should be fairly soon.

K-22 Masterpiece is great for collecting but too valuable to be a shooter. I’d go for the 10 shot Model 617.

The 617 is not exactly cheap, but probably more practical. You could get the reissued model 17 for a little more money if you’re more of a traditionalist.

A great 22 revolver is the 22/32 kit gun. Small, accurate, great trigger. A classic.

LOL! My Dad bought the one I have when I was 2. Grew up in the NRA and ended up shooting competition with him. He also left a 1911 manufactured in the Springfield Armory in 1914 and it still shoots great today.

Haven't fired the Mark I for a number of years - keep it oiled and cased and will pass it and others on to my son.

Will be 65 in November and need to start double-checking some of my memories before putting them out in the arena where the "anal" ones get to correct me.....

Also have an old Browning Belgique .32 that Dad gave to my wife about 25 years ago. She keeps it in the nightstand and carries a Taurus Slim 9mm.

I grew up with guns but never got into the "full spectrum" specs on all the different types/models - got familiar with the operation/maintenance of them and am satisfied not being an expert on all the minutia.

During the competition days, a few were sighted for "6 O'clock" shooting but all the handguns are now set "dead nuts" at 50'.

Some would consider my a certified gun guy.

I try and live up to that I read reread about guns until the cows come home makes models ect ect.

If I don’t know I have hundreds of reference books.

And now the net to help a lot of gun information out there.

I don’t do ball sports I do shooting sports and some fishing.

It is all good fun.
