Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said Sunday that the Justice Department does not 'engage in fishing expeditions.' During an interview on "Fox News Sunday," Rosenstein explained that impaneling a grand jury in general doesn't say anything about whether or not their will be an indictment.

WALLACE: When you -- now, I know I'm very dangerous territory here, but hear me out on this because I'm not asking about the investigation. When you appointed Mueller, and you were the one who did, you had to sign an order authorizing the appointment of a special counsel, and you said that he was authorized to investigate any coordination with Russia and -- I want to put these words on the screen -- any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation.

My question is, does that mean that there are no red lines that Mueller or any special counsel can investigate under the terms of your order, anything he finds?

ROSENSTEIN: Chris, the special counsel is subject to the rules and regulations of the Department of Justice, and we don't engage in fishing expeditions. Now, that order that you read, that doesn't detail specifically who may be the subject of the investigation --

WALLACE: Right.

ROSENSTEIN: -- because we don't reveal that publicly.

But Bob Mueller understands and I understand the specific scope of the investigation and so, it's not a fishing expedition.

If what Rosenstein is saying is true, then hopefully Mueller will be required to keep his investigation on the subject on the imaginary 'Russian collusion' hoax.

Why, because they both "understand the specific scope"? That guarantees absolutely nothing. The only part that is transparent so far is that this investigation is being conducted by Clinton supporters, donors, zealots, and that no fewer than sixteen of them are sucking the public teat in order to do opposition research for the Democrat party. That isn't in any "scope" but it's what is happening.

If there is a single adult in the country who does not believe that the results of this research will be in the hands of the DNC before the ink is dry on the paper I'd love to know who that might be. That is, of course, outrageously outside of any imaginable "scope", at least that might be made public. But then no scope at all has been, has it?

IOW, any matter or wild idea of Mueller’s that happens to come to light while investigating Russia but not remotely tied to anything Russia did is fair game. There are no set boundaries, which is why Mueller can go back years before the campaign and look at the Trump business deals and financial arrangements. We’ll end up hearing about golf courses, reality shows, beauty pagents, etc, etc.
