Secret Service Vacates Trump Tower Command Post After Lease Dispute. McMaster Says Susan Rice...

The Secret Service is no longer on the property at Trump Tower. I had read awhile back there was a dispute over the cost. Whatever the reason, it does not sound good to me. Because Trump Tower is President Trump’s permanent home, it should be monitored very carefully.

The official reason is the following: “After much consideration, it was mutually determined that it would be more cost effective and logistically practical for the Secret Service to lease space elsewhere,” Amanda Miller said in an email to the Post.

But Secret Service spokeswoman Catherine Milhoan told the paper that the agency is still working “to obtain permanent work space in an appropriate location.”

“Throughout this process, there has been no impact to the security plan developed by the Secret Service,” she added.

Trump owns the building. He can charge them $1 a year if he wants.

Perhaps Trump would prefer his known-trusted private security take care of Trump Tower, rather than Obama holdovers of unknown loyalty.

Trump no longer manages/controls anything in Trump Enterprises. He can't set the price for a candy bar, let alone rent rates.

A command post can be anywhere. The actual protective people do not need an HQ office on site.

They are probably overdoing it on space needed. Trump did not get rich being stupid. If anything happens to the Trump tower due to anti-Trump game playing...

Of course, if this decision was taken unilaterally by the SS, it could be seen as a modern version of taking the plexiglass bubble off of JFKs car that day.

The SS did a poor job of protecting Trump during the campaign. It was only luck and due to Trumps own people that he wasn’t successfully attacked.

“Trump owns the building. He can charge them $1 a year if he wants.”

He made a detailed speech about this. It was his first press conference. He does not have ANYTHING to do with the management of his properties.

Snicker:

But in early July, the post was relocated to a trailer on the sidewalk

This is just another example of the Trump Administration taking great steps to slash government spending and not be be victim to businesses that intend to exploit the taxpayer.

There actually are some good reasons to NOT have it in the same building.

Much ado about nothing I expect.
