Yep, and the bullet goes about five feet, so possibly not as deadly as the movies. When I was a young and dumb kid, I shot a .45 auto into my dad’s horse watering tank, the bullet only went about a foot or foot and a half and dropped to the bottom. I guess I learned at that point that shooting something underwater was pretty useless. Shooting fish through the ice was another story though.

I used to fire my min-14 into stock tanks from an elevated position. The shock/concusion from the round would kill/stun lots of fish!!
You didn’t have to hit them to kill them.

I read an article here a few years ago about bullets and shooting into water. Apparently, just like a human body, the faster it hits the water, the shorter the distance it will travel in the water.
It’s why you can’t jump out of a plane at 5,000 feet into the ocean and do a nice swan dive. Well, you can, but not without dying from the impact, which is akin to hitting concrete.
