Yes, some of these are bottom-of-the-barrel jobs, but that doesn’t excuse anyone who is able-bodied from being responsible & working. If the boss is an ass, learn the skill & take it to another employer. I worked for LOTS of a**holes in my many years of work. I just started looking for a new job & quit when I found one.
That’s not always possible, and I speak from unpleasant experience. The other half of the problem is that after Obamacare a $9-11 no benefits job either gets your income eaten alive buying insurance on your own or a fat penalty every year PLUS paying out of pocket for everything.
Other thing is if you get fired for any reason you either have a gap in your resume, have to lie, or risk being not taken by anywhere as basically damaged goods.
This gets really hairy if you worked for, say, First Data who is notorious for mass firings at certain times of the year to make their budget look better.
