The American Legion boys erupted in ecstatic cheers when President Donald Trump couldn't resist taking a dig at the "fake news" press while taking a photograph with them.
Trump addressed the American Legion Boys Nation and Auxiliary Girls Nation on Wednesday at the White House, taking a more hopeful and inspirational tone than in his politically loaded speech to the Boy Scouts this week.
Before his speech, he posted for pictures with the both groups. After the picture with the boys, Trump said he'd be returning shortly to make his televised remarks.
"We'll say a few words in a little while," he said. "I just want to tell you before all the press comes."
Then he added in a joking afterthought, "Fake news."
Trump grinned as the lads around him laughed and applauded.
I haven’t listened to President Trump’s speech to the Boy Scouts yet, but plan to. ANyone know how it was “politically loaded”?
I heard a lot of somewhat liberal parents of Boy Scouts were about trembling with rage, because The Donald made the event into a political rally, or so they were told.
From what I could hear, the scouts seemed to be having a good time with a president who clearly wanted to be there.
Kids can usually tell if enthusiasm is being faked.
It wasn’t. Unless you’re triggered by picking yourself up from your bootstraps or thinking America is great or making one comment about how the last President of The US couldn’t seem to find his way over to the jamboree in 8 years.
He talked about American stuff. It just sounded like politics because the leftists are anti-American now days.
A couple of his comments were a little, er, surprising.
I didn’t listen to all of it, but I loved his comments on ‘momentum’- being careful to avoid not losing momentum in life by ‘giving up’. This was great.
The Boy Scout speech was political because the kids chanted, “We Love Trump”.
Obama couldn’t go to a Boy Scout Jamboree, because it was not on a golf course...
Yes, I thought the ‘momentum’ comments stood out. Interesting insight into a man like Pres. Trump and what he’s going through now.
