Second Big Film Studio Set For Fayette County (5,000 jobs in Georgia)

A $58 million film studio is in the works for Fayette County, just minutes from Pinewood Atlanta Studios.

This week’s Atlanta Business Chronicle reports the 24-acre, six-stage complex in north Fayetteville would be called Cinema South Studios.

The team behind the venture includes Alvin Williams, a film producer with more than 30 years of experience in the film industry; Jim Viviano of 5G Studio Collaborative, the architect behind the project; and Todd Brooks, president at Brooks Real Estate Development Inc.

Winter Construction will build the studios once funding is in place. The partners plan to break ground this December with a tentative completion date of December 2019.

Rather than competing with Pinewood, which has been full since its opening with productions that include Marvel’s “AntMan,” “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” Cinema South Studios’ partners see their stages as a complement to Pinewood. The studio has been so full at certain points that its productions have had to seek out space elsewhere.

Over the next five years, Cinema South Studios projects it will create 5,000 jobs.

Don’t get too excited since these movie studios will vacate and move with a better deal some where else.

Not exactly. It is a joint venture with the Cathy Family Foundation (Chik Fil A) that built the studios and provide funding and help for those wishing to make films or tv shows in Georgia.

Foljs would be surprised at the amount of work that goes on here

They have very good deals in Georgia

There is a fairly large industry here. We have great locations, trained folks, good services, and tax breaks

You would be surprised at how much filming goes on here

It’s owned by both the original British Pinewood studio and the Cathy family:

Pinewood Atlanta is a joint venture between the studio and River’s Rock LLC, an independently managed trust of the Cathy family, founders of the Chick-fil-A fast-food chain.

Not a win, since it’ll bring Liberals to Georgia. :-(

Our grandson just finished filming in Atlanta on a upcoming series on the unabomber for the Discovery Channel . He’s playing a small part, but has a good chance of moving on to bigger things.
